The 24 Season Six Thread (Please tag spoilers for fuck's sake)

So, I just got done watching Season 5 of 24, my favorite television show, straight through, and all I can say is that it was a roller coaster ride to say the least. Season five straight through has become my favorite season of the show, even over the first season (the one that got me hooked six years ago.)

Now, we are less than a month away from a FOUR HOUR season premiere for season 6.

Try to tag as many spoilers as possible. I can't be the only one on this forum that is extremely excited about this.

I would have to rate the seasons 5,1,4,2,3. Five was really good because it never really slowed down, and while there wasn't ever any Nina sized shitbombs, there was some really crazy moments where you just felt bad watching, knowing that something fucked up was going to happen.

Why do Shield fans and 24 fans always have to fight? I love both shows. I just missed a few episodes at the end of season 2 and never got caught up. As a result, I've stopped watching since I want to see all the shows in order. I actually want to just start from Season 1 again. I downloaded it all and watched the pilot again and went HOLY SHIT all over again.

But this is the 24 thread. This is about Jack Bauer Action Hour.

I guess a big part of the show - the ability of any character to be killed at any time - is a big part of why I don't like the show as much anymore. I like pretty much like none of the supporting characters left.

I just feel 24 is a formuliac "shock" show. Every episode, it seems they add a BIG NEW SHOCK MURDER or TURNCOAT BEST FRIEND character to fuck Jack up. With The Shield, something small can happen and be revisited three or four seasons later and totally catch you off guard. No other show has quite that effect on me.

Shake, I truly do wish I never missed those few episodes. It used to be such a perfect combo. I would watch 24 and The Shield the same night consecutively and it would be glorious.

And 24 isn't quite that formulaic, they've done the best they can do with such a limiting format.

I'll be watching, but this show has really gone to the birds. I said at GAF, and I stand by it here, that 24's quality is inversely proportional to its ratings. Which is to say, while the ratings get better each year, the show gets worse.

The show will NEVER top the final scene in S1, or George Mason's "best fucking death ever" scene from S2.

Although. I think the main reason I rank 5 ahead of 4 is because I think Henderson is possibly the best villain the show has had.

True that, I had forgotten about that one. Thats the thing, aside from Jack himself, theres really no one left to kill off that will have any sort of emotional resonance. Teri? Dead. Mason? Dead. Chapelle? Dead. Nina? Dead. Sheri? Dead. Palmer? Dead. Tony? Dead. Michelle? Dead (and I  Michelle  :'().

I couldn't care less if Chloe, Kim, Wayne Palmer, Curtis, etc. die.

People always say that the best series ending would be Jack's death, but I think keeping Nina alive and moving in an out of the stories until the end, and having Jack kill her in the series finale would have been more fulfilling. That would've been pretty damn awesome - if they used Nina a little bit less. She was getting on my nerves by the third season, so when he killed her I thought it was pretty awesome.

Agreed, but you can say this for many shows. And even though I didn't like Season 4 much, I would've been happy if they just ended it there, with Jack walking away in that sunset.

Guys, I may have found the craziest inane trivia bit related to "24" yet.  My many years of watching softcore porn has paid off!

I had sworn I saw the main terrorist bad guy, Fayed, in something before.  Something sinful!  Lo and behold, Passion Cove was on Cinemax and the actor, Adoni Maropis, is indeed in an episode entitled "The Getaway".  He's banging some fugly blonde chick.

If they were both comicbooks, 24 would be some Marvel shit while The Shield would be, like... Comico (I'm really showing my age here  :'()
