You knwo this is why Nintendo doesnt release anything good on the Wii.  There were 2 major hardcore game announcements this week and people still bitch that there are no games.  Of course Nintendo doesnt say this directly they just say that hardcore gamers are insatiable.

Aren't you a Nintendo shill? Super Mario 64 is pretty stellar if you don't mind camera issues. And if you do, then play the DS version, which is superior as long as you don't mind new, half-assed stages and a terrible multi-character system.

Also, Sunshine is one of my personal favorite games from last gen.

Anyhow the 3d marios had this star collecting based design which sucked, collecting things to advance forward is a stupid idea.  Id rather objective based design whewre you have a goal and completeing that goal unlocks later levels so there is a sense of continuation.

I'm a PC gamer at heart myself, but I still understand that most platformers have a collection aspect to it. I'm not entirely sure SM64 started the fad, but regardless, it isn't a game design choice that I've rejected in any form.

However, Super Mario Galaxy is kind of shit.

That is not why.  Your typical "hardcore gamer" is in the minority and is either going to buy everything or avoid certain games every time.  They don't factor in.  Those games are getting made and released because Nintendo figures there is still enough of a market for them.

The hardcore gamer wants high fidelity games though, something that the wii cannot provide in comparison to the ps360.  A hardcore game made on the wii will sell less than if it were made on the ps360.  That is why Nintendo doesnt use their main dev studios to make these games, they out source to a second or third party.

Considering that Nintendo is doing jack shit at the moment, I can only assume that they've thrown everyone into Galaxy to make it as good as possible.  That or waiting with baited breath as Miyamoto noodles around his garden to come up with the next multimillion seller non-game idea.

Not much else interests me.  Thanks to Gamefly and a 360 that can actually read discs now, I'm trying to catch up on the backlog of games I've missed.  I don't think I'll ever really catch up.

Mass Effect 2. Maybe Heavy Rain. NISA has a few RPG games coming out this year, hopefully it isn't the same old tired formula. But knowing NISA, it likely is.

I think the NDS is due for some good RPGs this year too.
