XBL shutting down on original Xbox
« on: February 05, 2010, 03:50:44 AM »
Holy shit I really don't like this.

http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2010/02/05/gh789.aspx

April 15th is the last day. This is totally lame because there are still quite a few Xbox 1 games I play online, like Spikeout and SF3. I'm actually pretty shocked they're doing this.  :'(

Supposedly this was what was holding up the friends list limit from expanding so cool. I say shut it down. The only game that still had real numbers was Halo 2.

One of the if not THE reason why PC gaming will always be infinitely better than console gaming.

I love me some console games but you don't find such iron hand practices on the PC market.

whu whu what? How many PC MMOs have shut down practically before they started?

What will happen to any Xbox Live Arcade games purchased for the original Xbox?

Those exist?

I finally got rid of XBL for the OG Xbox last year, but I'd still get online to play Phantom Dust and Spikeout from time to time.

I really would've loved to have played that game online for more than a few minutes at a time. I think that game has the worst netcode ever.

nooooo PHANTOM DUST noooooooo

you can still play it on the 360!

Yo if you motherfuckers are still playing Phantom Dust then we really, really need to throw down!

I think I only ever saw two or three other people ever playing Spikeout online. Damn shame, cause it's still a blast to play. That's one game that really needs a XBLA/PSN version.

I think I'm gonna go home and play some Spikeout on the OG Xbox.

:bow Phantom Dust: bow2

Only card-based game I ever enjoyed

Same here. Probably because it did an awesome job of not seeming to be card-based.

Weird, I thought XBL was P2P.

Yeah.  Although I think Dissidia did a good job of being a crappier Phantom Dust.  The way you get moves and setup your character is pretty close to phantom dust.  Too bad it didn't have online play :(

Weird, I thought XBL was P2P.

If it's not PC it still needs servers for matchmaking.

Original Outrun 2 on Xbox is magical. C2C is too even if it looks worse. The XBLA one isn't th esame.

Yeah, I'm sad for people this affects, but the world has got up and moved on. This feels like when Apple users complain about lack of support for pre-OS X Mac OS stuff. "Bu-bu-bu I'm still using my 9" screen Mac SE!"
