I want this, but Wiiware is such garbage to deal with  :'(

and I think I only have 500 points left over from years ago when I last bought something on it, which means I'll need to buy 1000, so I'll have 500 left over again after this  >:(

I have bubble bobble on nes already.  I'll rather not waste money on the wii online nonsense if I don't have to.

Is that Excitebike game $5? that looked pretty good

I have startropics on the NES (actually one of my favorite NES game) and I did buy the VC release with spare points I had way back when.

how much are those bit.trip games again? the newest one called Runner looks like Canabalt.  I might pick that up if it's $5.

I have both Startropics and Zoda's revenge boxed copies.  Startropics was my brother's that I inherited and Zoda's Revenge I bought myself.  I actually own two copies of Startropics, but only because at the time I found someone selling Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Startropics together, and I wanted the Mike Tyson version of punch out, so I had to get both.  That one came in the box too.

Nope.  I have a top loading NES and a u-force.  There is nothing NES related you could present that would help you.  Can you play Startropics with 100% success rate without ever using your hands? I can.

Who developed this?  I don't believe for a second that the now only barely functional Sunsoft made this, who'd they farm it out to?

and it actually looks kinda good-ish.

I just realized that you can probably count on one hand, the number of car-platformers ever made.  Blaster Master has got to be at the top of that really small subgenre, no?

It looks like it'd be fun to play, but the graphics are turrible. Also how do you fuck up the Blaster Master song? :-\

Chameleon Twist was one of those games that I liked and played a lot when I got one game every month or so, and when I finally went online, I discovered that it was supposed to suck.  Bomberman 64 was another one.  I wish they would make another Bomberman game that was like Bomberman 64 and not the classic grid based style.

I pretty much agree with this entire post. I had a lot of fun with Chameleon Twist, and B64 is the best in the series imo.

I was 8 when I bought an N64 in 96 and it was the first permanent console in my house since the nes (the master system, genesis, snes, ps1, and other consoles came and went because my older brother was indecisive).  So, yes, it was my primary console for about two or three years.  This was before jobs and having money of my own, so getting a game was rare and I made each one last.  I have played an incredible amount of snowboard kids in my time.

This shouldn't be the first time you're hearing this: Most EBers are bigger Nintendo fans than the Nfucks who darken our doorstep.

I only had a N64, it was my reintroduction to consoles after missing the SNES/Genesis era.  It was a great console.  The only thing I badly missed was having the Colin McRae Rally games, but a friend had a PlayStation so it wasn't too bad.

A friend who moved out of the country sold me his N64 when I was 12. I already had a PlayStation by then, so it kinda just sat around the house. Didn't help that I only had ONE game for the damn thing the first year I owned it:

Nintendo consoles have the most re-sale value. Look at most Gamecube and N64 games.

Their values have gone up compared to their counterparts.

They should make a new Super Spy Hunter, that game was badass.

Sunsoft had a lot of interesting games back in the NES days, but most of them never left Japan for whatever reason (they also made Ikki, which is considered to be the original "shitty game").  Blaster Master was probably the best of their games, so it was definitely the right choice to bring over.  They're one of those companies that just couldn't stay relevant in the 32-bit era tho, and faded into obscurity (joining the likes of other previous major giants like Jaleco).

- Plays like Metroid
- Car and human move like a turd
- Game doesnt mark which caves you've been in
- Has a map, has manual saving (map marks which caves have a save point)
- Fight bigger monsters for car upgrades (game doesnt tell which caves have the car upgrades / monsters)
- Pick up upgrades that increase max HP / Energy for car
- Pick up weapon upgrades as human, can swap between 3. Getting hit decreases this by 1
- Game gives out health packs like STDs
- Not very difficult, beat first monster without getting hit once
- Plays the same tune over and over, expect to hate this music Disregard it changes in a new area

Overall... decent.

Played a little bit of the first area too before I had to go to work. Feel about the same way too. I haven't had any problems control wise, but the music should've changed during the topdown sequences instead of restarting. Visually it looks pretty bland and flat so far. Difficulty wise the first area has been easy at the moment with the only real challenge coming from the topdown parts (mostly due to being able to only take 3 hits). Knowing how Vireland's handling of games work I'm sure the difficulty will ramp up later.

map doesn't tell you where you've been? Shitty re-looping music? How hard is it to make a game that's good by 16 bit standards?

It highlights the areas you've been, but it doesnt mark which human levels you've explored
