Chocolate Sparkling soda...my new taste obsession.
« on: February 07, 2010, 01:10:19 AM »
Better than any purple drank - the long-awaited taste combination of soda & chocolate flavor has made my taste buds sing.

"Can this actually taste good?" you ask yourself. Oh, ye of little faith...this is an explosion of flavor, the perfect mixture of cocoa and carbonation.  I'm drinking a bottle RIGHT NOW.

It's so good.  I like to actually savor it for a few seconds before swallowing to appreciate the richness and texture of the flavor. :D

Sure, once in a while.  Usually not unless I'm like at a social gathering or something, but like once every four or five months, I like to drink some gin & tonic while playing video games or whatever. :lol

I've also been waffling on committing to a taste of this. There's been chocolate-flavored soda in the USA for ages, but I'm curious if this is any different.

Does anyone actually think that LOST IN TRANSLATION was a racist movie? Everytime I see someone write about how "racist" it is, my head shakes so much it looks like I've got a palsy.

Well I guess it shows a lot of stereotypes about Japanese culture.  But it's boring so I don't think it can be racist.

Well I can't remember ever being bored by racism.  It could be funny, shocking, scary, pretty much everything but boring.

What? People say Lost in Translation is a racist movie?
A number of people think that the Japanese encountered are Asian stereotypes. Among the complaints is the lack of any communication between the Caucasian tourists and the "funny little yellow people" may encourage western audiences to feel justified in their continued alienation of local Asians in their local community.

The movie instead does a good job of showing the results of poor, but supposedly professionally enabled communication between Murray's character and the advertisement director, improvised communication with no common language in late night bars where Murray and Johanson visit, but most typically it shows two foreigners visiting a country where neither speaks the language and struggling to make their own place in it. While it may be comical that the Japanese are speaking bad English from time to time, it is equally clear that neither Murray's nor Scarlett's character can even manage basic greetings, ordering their meal, or any other aspect of day to day life. To me, it's more an indictment of the monolingual Americans traveling and then being surprised when the world outside the US borders is unable to accommodate them.

As Cormacaroni can confirm, I live in East Bumfiddler, Osaka, where good things arrive late. I had my first bottle of the stuff today. I don't normally drink soda, so I was completely buzzed off the amount of processed sugar in it. Like berserker-rage levels of sugar high. It may be a super-soldier formula. Taste-wise, I wasn't sold. Chocolate needs something creamy, or at least sport some umami. I think if I'd put a scoop of vanilla ice cream into it and had it as a float, I'd have been sold, but I probably would have gone into a sugar coma.
