Entering the Current-Gen Pt. 2!

Hey EB a while ago I made a thread asking what system I should get. Well I've kind of narrowed it down to a Wii and Xbox 360. I've made lists of games I want for each system, I've compared pricing and other things, and it's a really tough one to call. I'm not asking anybody to make this decision for me, but maybe recommend one or the other and give a solid reason why. For myself, these are the selling points for each system

-Cheap as fuck, and I can connect straight to my po-dunk 11" CRT
-The games are also relatively cheap
-Free online play (albeit terrible)

-I'm split on SKUs as the Elite is costly, would I be screwing myself if I sprung for the Arcade?
-New games are expensive but the used catalogue is like a goddamn goldmine now
-XBLA WiiWare
-Could finally join Boresquad
-I'd need an HDMI cable/PC cable to connect to my monitor, and they are 'spensive

Anyways, I welcome any help/opinions/flames you feel like firing off, so thanks in advance!

Yeah, this is kind of what I was thinking. But like I said, it's still a tough decision. I love solo gaming just as much (maybe a bit more than) as multiplayer stuff, so having a cache of awesome (homo) folk to play games with isn't a huge selling point.

Also remember that the Mega Man games are on XBLA as well.

The arcade unit is not worth getting since you'd have to buy a hard drive anyway.  If you're getting a 360, go with the Elite.

I know that MM is on XBLA, but I won't really feel comfortable playing it on anything but a two button controller.

My computer monitor is 1080p, brings me to my next question: It has an HDMI in, should I spring for the HDMI cable or the VGA cable? My sound system is a PC sound system and I think that works better with the Xbox VGA cable but...can somebody help me out here?

FWIW, my 360 is hooked up via VGA and looks beautiful.  Did a quick Google search on 360 HDMI Vs. VGA and all the results I looked at state that they're either pretty much the same or VGA has a slight edge.

Is $20 much? I think used it's like $15.

Haters gonna hate. What games specifically do you think suck? I'm really personality-specific with my taste in video games. I don't really care for big hits, nor do I care what the hivemind likes. I just play them and decide. Most of those games I've played, and I loved the shit out of.

Some of those games I haven't played, so if you can give some insight, I'll welcome it.

I'm not really into console-gaming pirating. Regardless of how easy it is, I don't really care for it. Did it once with the PSP and it wasn't worth the headache, I'd probably end up feeling the same way with the Wii.

Well download the 360 demo first to see how you like that.  It's a great game but it doesn't sound intuitive at all to play with a kb/mouse.

I already did and it felt fine, the wall-richochet mechanic worked way better with a KB, but sure, I'll probably try the demo for the 360 before making a final decision.

It's the other way around. I need to complete my PS2 backlog before I even think about getting a 360. There are quite a few games that still need finishing, which is all good to me. More time for another price drop to occur + cheaper games.

I'd add PC backlog in before the 360 too, except I wouldn't get a 360 until, hoo, I'd say about 2020.
