Went out yesterday afternoon so I didn't get to play this as much as I wanted to. I'll probably be playing this the whole day today starting at like 6 PM.

sweet bought this. Seems like a steal at 800pts.

Graphics are good! Goldeneye would actually be great if they updated it like this.

Tried playing on Perfect Agent... enemies were fine but I was stuffing up objectives hard  :lol I had had a bit to drink so couldnt be bothered reading the briefing screen  :P Maybe I should play through the game on easy so I know where the objectives are and stuff.

If you play on lower difficulties they just completely take out secondary mission objectives.

I'm starting to play this game like I play Mega Man. Keep dying until everything is burned into my memory, then speed run the whole mission in a few minutes like no problem.

Is the AI completely unchanged?  One funny thing about Goldeneye and I think PD on the 64 was that if you fired a couple shots with an unsilenced weapon, the guards wouldn't notice until the third shot that you fired in a row.  It was the only way I could pass some of those levels on the highest difficulty without getting "detected".

does Agent = Easy, Special Agent = Normal, Perfect = Hard?  Agent's super easy.  Only thing that kills me are turrets that catch me off guard.

The shooting mechanics are kinda hilarious, since auto-aim magnetically drifts to enemies so easily, but I think the level design is better than most FPS I've played over the past 10 years. It isn't a straight corridor (or curvy corridor for the illusion of openness) and it isn't too confusing so that you need radars and bread trails to get you to your objective.

My friend and I did co-op on Agent for shits and giggles and it's literally a quarter of the experience Perfect Agent delivers.

Interesting little game...

Never played the original on real N64 hardware (just a bit via emulation) so it's nice to see it looking and running so nicely.  Don't know if I will buy it, though, as it definitely shows it age with dull level design and horrible AI (the third enemy I met in the game was stuck between a door and the wall).  Seems like it is meant as a piece of nostalgia for old PD and Goldeneye players.

It's a shame you can't use the MP options online unless you are in a private game.  If I could host my own game with strangers using my favorite custom rules, I could play the game potentially forever.

This game has absolutely insane amounts of content. I can't believe they crammed this all on the N64.

My memories of it aren't so good, I remember playing maybe halfway through the game on N64 and giving up because of the horrible frame rate. Now that shit is butter smooth, mmmm

Could you play single-player mode in co-op with a bot in the original?  :o

Honestly the appeal for me here is mostly nostalgia although I like some of the MP options the game has. But after playing for a bit, I don't think I will be spending much time here. What this product mainly does is make me wish Perfect Dark Zero hadn't been so bad.

Nah the game still holds up pretty well.

It's a $10 XBLA title and offers a superior package to most downloadable games out there. Plus the multiplayer options alone makes it a great guy for the bro market.
It's a great package in terms of content on hand, but I just didn't find the level designs to be all that good or interesting.  Of course, I'm one of the few out there that thought Goldeneye was a shitty game.  Turok 1 >>>> Goldeneye

To think that some people tried to claim GE as a game better than Half-Life!!!

The level designs in PD and GE are pretty horrid/confusing. Doesn't stop them from being good games, and like you said yourself, for $10 the amount of content you're getting is outstanding.

I definitely agree that Turok > GE, and I've never heard people claim that GE is better than Half Life, because if I had, I'd be wanted for murder.

I'm getting to know the levels and since I'm already halfway through the game, I may as well finish it.

This kind of thing wouldn't happen if devs would just name the difficulty with unambiguous terms.  Like "oh, agent...agents are pretty hardcore in real life, so maybe this is just a normal mode, with secret and perfect being hard and very hard."

I'm playing through every difficulty just like I did back in the day. Sorry demi. Playing through Perfect Agent without knowing the stage layouts is annoying. I'll also end up higher on the leaderboards this way.

Goldeneye is better than Half-Life in certain ways, and vice versa. Controls aside, it comes down to your personal preferences. Personally, I can't think of a Half-Life level that I enjoyed as much as the Siberian Bunker the second time around (can't remember the exact name) on 00 Agent.

If you want to kill me for this, Raban, I'll just say that you have your work cut out for you.

I'm doing secret agent since I haven't played this in a long time.

Single player seems great, regular multiplayer seems great, but both co-op and counter-op are a bit unplayable due to the lag/delayed controls.

Yeah, the level design is pretty bad.

BUT THIS GAME STILL KICKS ASS.

I'm so glad this game is on the 360. I really want to kick some ass on multiplayer. The damn simulator challenges have already pissed me off. It's like the bots start shooting the split second you appear with 100% accuracy.

Smh, my friend's internet connection is fucked. I get horrible lag when playing with him. I need a co-op partner.

Also, does anyone know how the percentages leaderboards work? Somehow I have the highest out of all my friends, but I haven't done much of the campaign yet.

You know, I owned PD for the N64 and played it up to the level where you meet up with Elvis but I honestly don't remember a whole hell of a lot about the game other than creating some deathmatches against the simulants and some level toward the beginning involving a beach house.

I plunked down the 800pts and couldn't even get passed the PD institute before I turned it off.  Whatever nostalgia there was in this is lost on me.

PDZ is a better game.  Seriously.

Perfect Dark Being Updated Next Month
Bugs fixed and perks added.

March 29, 2010 - Rare's remake of its N64 classic Perfect Dark has been well-received right out of the gate, earning the number one spot on the Xbox Live Arcade sales charts in its first week of availability. Today Rare announced on its Twitter page that a title update is coming next month that will fix a variety of issues and add a new solo and multiplayer mode.

- The bug with the "Tools of the Trade" achievement that keeps players from being awarded the gamer points will be fixed.
- Legacy and Southpaw controls are being added.
- Players will be able to swap triggers.
- Aim sensitivity sliders are being added.
- Solo and Team "Hardcore" playlists are being added that remove radar and auto-aim.

Rare didn't say exactly when we can expect this title update.

5/5/10: The Perfect Update

For those who've been trapped upside-down in an overturned Victorian carriage for the last couple of months, Perfect Dark XBLA has been available since March and the second title update is due tomorrow.

Want to know what's included in this title update? Seems likely, especially if you've been campaigning for Southpaw or Legacy controls since launch. Well, we've listened (or at least MGS and 4J have listened), and tackled everything that could be tackled without dismantling the whole game. The list below will tell you what you can expect the update to bring (besides the usual tweaks and fixes) to Perfect Dark:
Legacy controls
Southpaw (left-handed) controls
Swap Triggers control option
Lock Sight control option
Precision Aim sensitivity tuning
Hardcore (No Radar, No Auto-Aim, No Highlights, Combat only) matchmaking playlist
Gamma (brightness) option
Secondary Fire Reset option in Combat Simulator
Quick Menu select using either Left or Right stick
Player Handicap reinstated in local multiplayer
Client player progress recorded in Live Co-Op game
Progress recorded for all primary players (main player on each console) in Live Challenges
Counter-Op progress recorded for both players if Jo player successfully completes the level
Achievement fixes including 'Tools of the Trade' (anyone who's earned but not received it will now do so), ‘Who Needs Enemies’ (awarded to Counter-Op player after a full mission's progress), ‘How's That For Starters?’ (awarded to Counter-Op player if Jo player completes first level)
Increased duration of explosions to better match the N64 experience
Laptop Gun sentry mode performance adjusted to match the N64 experience
May 6th is the expected date for the rollout of this free title update. Firing up Perfect Dark while connected to Xbox Live should give you the prompt to download and install it. Enjoy!

the lock sight option is weird because while it's fine and stays in the middle normally, it still is lookspring when you aim.
