Game is getting better and better. Some of the sidequests are really good. I'm loving the humor too. Definitely the funniest Fable so far  :lol

The combat is quite bad though. Very clunky, and the enemies are so stupid. They just stand there and wait to get slashed or shot.

Also encountered a few bugs so far. But nothing game breaking. And my dog is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged. He always gets stuck in the most stupid places.

I'm enjoying it more than I liked Fable 2. Not because of the mechanics which are average at best. The combat is brain dead simple. It's literally extremely hard to die.

But the story in general and voice acting is much more interesting and compelling than the prior stuff in the Fable series so far. Reminds me a little bit of enslaved in that sense where most of my enjoyment is coming from the story rather than the actual gameplay.

Here is an annoying example of the morality system in this game.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I just killed my brother after becoming king and that's an "evil" act. First I don't agree. Second its a lame thing to call it an evil act even if the game wants to label it as something not saintly. Just call it renegade if you want to toss around labels. It just makes the lame morality system in this game even more of a joke.

Although I am kinda digging the whole economy thing when you become king. It's simple but it gets the point across.

Well there is no tangible benefit in this game for having played Fable 2. You don't get extra stuff like Mass Effect or something. There are some story connections but once again its not like this is Mass Effect where its a deep continued story. Where the story begins you don't really need much backstory from 2. And the only real connections are connections like some of the same towns appear in both games so there is a bit of nostalgia there. Some of the quest characters re-appear so there is also some nostalgia there.

Mainly its a question of were you ever interested in playing Fable 2. If you weren't then I would just skip it. It's an average game with a bit more rpg in it than Fable 3. Fable 3 is also kinda average but personally I think its better mainly because the story and humour are better and removing some of the rpg stuff doesn't really hurt it imo. This one is clearly more of an adventure game where the only real important rpg part left is money making.

Yeah, artistically on a thematic level it was probably the best thing they've ever done in the Fable series. Which is why I think it should go more in that direction and become more of an adventure game.

I found one lesbo in the orphanage. Just danced a bit with her and got my guild points.

Finished the game. Kept all of my promises. 0 casualties in the end. I think I got the perfect ending.

There are still some quests open. I only opened one Demon Door so far. Not going to do the fetch quests. They are so boring.

Good game.

When I found out I would have to amass a lot of money and transfer it over to the treasury to keep my promises, I decided to wait a bit. Seems like I'm just going to have to leave my system on while I go eat or something to accumulate enough cash.

It's hard to keep all of the promises and have 6.5mln gold in the end if you don't cheat. 6.5mln Gold is a lot of money anyway. Keeping a promise sometimes ends up costing 1mln gold.
The only way to accumulate all of that money without cheating is to leave your system on for a few days.

I wonder how Fable 4 will be. Molyneauoeoex' original vision kinda faded away with each installment.
I also hope the game becomes more of an adventure game. The moral choices have become more of a gimmick. Everything is black and white, there's no in between. Just scrap the good/evil parts. With that, you'll automatically scrap the tedious character relationships.
Keep the rpg elements in it, though.

Yeah the game is weird. It has all these left over elements that are only in there because originally it was supposed to be a completely different game back when the first one was made. A lot of them don't even really make sense anymore because its gone in a completely different direction since then. The series really needs a break so they can come at it fresh and keep the stuff that works and dump the stuff that doesn't work anymore.

I beat this last night. The last 20% or so soured me on the game somewhat.

Who designs a game where leaving your system on one night so your money can pile up and then coming back to it the next day is how you decide all the tough moral choices in the game? And its also like this is expected of you if you want to be the good guy. Very weird design call in a game full of weird design calls.

There is an achievement for not dying in this game btw. And you will get it. It's not like this is some kind of challenge or something. The bosses and mini-bosses (what little of them there are) aren't any tougher than the regular monsters. At a certain point you don't even have to move in combat anymore. All you do is tap the button and shoot people with your rifle or hold down the button to throw some area of effect magic down.

I didn't even do some of the stuff like get married or have kids. Why bother. None of the mechanics really matter or even belong in the game honestly.

Most of these issues also existed in Fable 2 for what its worth. It's just sort of amazing that they don't actually fix their game and keep making the same mistakes three times in a row.

I enjoyed the humour. I enjoyed the dialogue. The writing is some of the funniest I've seen in a game. But god damn is the actual gameplay experience sub-par.

I might as well have but either way its sort of a fundamentally broken concept imo. But then the whole morality system stuff is so stupid anyway. I flew past the final bits just because I was getting really annoyed. I didn't even bother to do all the extra missions that seem to open up after you beat the game. Just dropped it in a gamefly envelope and shipped it back.

You didn't miss out on anything. The post-game missions aren't that interesting. There was one "mission" that had potential....

spoiler (click to show/hide)
A woman in Aurora is searching for a new world, and she asks you if you can help her fund the trip to find this new world. I gave her the money, hoping she would find a new place to explore. But it didn't do anything. I just lost money. Maybe it's a new DLC map or something.
[close]

The other missions are glorified fetch missions.

And I won't bother collecting all of the gnomes, books and flowers. So tedious. The only thing you get for completion is a stupid achievement anyway.

Even though my last post kind of dissed it for most of my playtime I enjoyed myself. It's only towards the very end that it really started to bug me and put a sour spin on it for me. But yeah if somebody told me they hated the game for X,Y, and Z reasons, I really couldn't object.

I can't emphasize enough how actually funny it is though.

I did nearly all the side quests except for the demon doors and the collect a thon missions. I bought nearly every business in the game although I did start that later as I didn't realize the whole game was going to come down to amassing such a large pile of money.

However you do it, you are going to have to grind out that money. I just picked the path of least resistance.

eh.  in fable 2 i bought shit right from the beginning because the idea of having tons of money later and not having to worry about it seemed too good.  halfway through the game I had 6 million dollars.  i love all the side shit.  collectathons, demon doors, family shit.  so i've always done all of that.

I didn't do all that stuff as amassing money in the Fable series has always seemed odd. There is no real use for it other than buying houses. (and repairing houses. What idiot thought this was a good idea btw. There is no repair all or repair all in town option) And since the novelty of that is over rather quickly I never really bothered. But to each his own. I still think its a poor thing to base morality around and the last 20% of the game.

Game is shittier than 2.

I have bought basically everything in the game to this point (I'm about to enter Aurora) and I'm still 100k or so short of the 2 million property achievement. What can I do to open up the 4th house of Millfields for purchase? That should put me over the top.

Just invest money in the properties by fixing them up and repairing them. I agree about Fable 3 vs Fable 2 it seems like they dumbed down the game. I'm still early on but I'm not having as much fun as I did with Fable 2.

I don't think repairs actually add value, do they? They just keep your rent from dropping to 0.

It takes too fucking long to stock up on furniture in this game and even longer to put it in. My friend said he got the cheev without going out of his way, I guess my town economies suck or something.

Finally played the game and the combat is ridiculously easy. Agree with the general consensus that the voice acting and humor is awesome, but man this would have been ten times a better game if the combat was actually somewhat challenging. And the dog didn't do shit half the time... after seeing the awesome special moves or whatever the character can do with the weapons,  I was waiting for one where the dog and I would double team some asshole - but never happened. The dog just sat there and mauled people already almost dead.

And why the hell are all these motherfuckers wanting me to keep my promises that can so obviously wait until AFTER the evil incarnates from hell invade? Or did they not hear, THE WORLD IS GOING TO GO ALL COLORLESS AND SHIT AND EVERYONE WILL DIE.  :maf

Overall, was entertaining though.  :)

I'm on the second day of being King and I'm down $950,000 in the treasury. When I open the book to deposit some of my 8 million gold, the little number bar doesn't move and when I hit A it says I don't have any gold available to transfer.

Is this a glitch or am I supposed to be able to deposit gold later? The analog stick does nothing, left and right on the dpad makes ascending and descending sounds but the ticker does not move.

If it's a glitch what the fuck am I supposed to do lol? I guess in order to avoid ruining my game world I will have to make 'bad' decisions?

Yeah, the only way they could have made the "gameplay" of that worse would have been to require the player to carry all the furniture in a poorly balanced stack to the target property before being able to apply it. What a time-consuming and tedious addition to the game.

the money glitch involves gifting another profile on your xbox and refusing it and it shows up as a gift in your sanctuary.  i think it may have been patched though.

Just to warn you watch out for the days. You can screw yourself there. The game does a really bad job of letting you know the last day is the last day. Especially when you have only one save file.

Yeah, there's no indication that you're even on the last day until you're thrown into the endgame.  It's kind of ridiculous.

And if you have any intention on being good and saving everyone, you're going to need a ton of fucking money which basically means you're going to have to do nothing for hours at a time while you collect gold from your properties- or at least that's what I did.  Every life for a piece of gold. It's like a distinguished mentally-challenged version of Schindler's List minus the jews.

God damnit.  I really hate Fable 3.  :punch

Day 121 is your last day. Do not even enter the throne room on that day.

If you want to really be safe, then do not do the mission for the woman who is looking for her statue in the rich people's village. Once you do that you are on the last day and taking a wrong step will fuck you up since the game saves instantly. Also, bring even more money than the game tells you you need because there is a surprise fee of 400k or so that shows up somewhere on the last day after that save. The game says you need 6.5M or something but just make it 7 or 8 and save yourself a headache.
