And SMG didn't ape sm64 as much as you imply. The structure was changed up substantially. Whereas sm64 was you finding objectives in a static level, galaxy remixed the level depending on the objective.
I get tired of this stuff, but okay, so TP and OoT both have:
-have Link, Zelda, Ganon
-have Epona
-Have 3 of the same beginning elemental dungeons
-introduce the master sword after the third dungeon
-uh...have a lot of dungeons, I guess?
I'm being extremely generous, btw. Now with SM64 and Galaxy, both:
-have Mario, Peach and Bowser
-require 60 stars to beat, but 120 to get 100%
-have you fight Bowser 3 times throughout the game
-require you to play the same world multiple times doing different objectives
I know you'll probably say something along the lines of "BUT IF YOU IGNORE ALL THAT STUFF, THEN IT TOTALLY SHAKES THINGS UP".
If you're gonna take the most cursory glances, then the comparisons with SM64 are just as valid. I don't get why TP gets so much shit for that, when you have stuff like the Oracle games that are far more worthy of being called out for being clones.
