then spent the afternoon sifting through everything while checking ebay prices and i even actually thought about getting back into it...until i remembered that this card exists:

Ice Age was the big Magic time for me. I played a black deck that used the Jester's Cap and something called Hypnotic Specter. It made people lose their cards. Only my version of the deck sucked because the Jester Cap was STUPID expensive and I only had one

Getting into the XBLA version, I felt like an addict who had entirely kicked his habit, then chose to go on methodone.

XBLA version is pretty neutered to consider it as a gateway drug.

I think Pokemon TCG on Game Boy does a better job getting you into it.

Baby, that's why I said "methodone" - it's not a gateway drug, it's the crap they put you on to get you away from it. And it's still preferable to being straight, apparently.

the only time it got depressing was when i went to the card and comic shop to buy stuff, those people were scary (i was in the third grade)

i used to play it in school and at tennis tournaments with other kids while we waited for our matches and stuff

Man, put up singles on ebay, then sell the commons/uncommons to some idiot for a lump sum. Though, keep in mind conditions. Even the slightest flaw can drop a $100 card to 30-40.

I was mostly joking. But if you want to get rid of them, I'm around. The aforementioned plan is the best plan I can think of.

Wednesday is draft night at the local nerd shop, we actually fired two 8 man pods and did four rounds of swiss between them tonight. Managed to come in second and win a bunch more store credit. Almost got a full play set of Zendikar fetch lands now.

If anyone that doesn't play anymore has older cards and doesn't want them, I'd be happy to give them a new home. I'll pay shipping, and do what I can to give you something for them as well... I really like older cards. I prefer to play with older stuff and play casual games than play Standard or something.

That being said, I may be getting back into Standard a little bit, a few of my friends have mentioned learning to play (without me even mentioning it to them!) and wanting to check out some tournaments. So I may start going to Richmond for Standard tourneys again. We shall see! Billy and I built the U/W Ally Mill deck, and while it's interesting, the only thing I played it against was the control vamp deck that I built for standard, so it got a bit overpowered. Also, re-vamped vamps to include one of the rare vamps from WW.

The thing is, at our store there's like a 60/40 split between people who just play for shits n giggles and people who know what they're doing. These are the people who like to put together "angel theme decks" or whatever for constructed and have no idea how to properly evaluate card utility. You can imagine how much worse it gets in drafts where the ability to evaluate cards is even more important. I guess they don't mind throwing away $15 a week in draft costs... I suppose it goes to what your idea of "fun" playing the game is. I like to have fun when I play the game too, but I have fun by winning and playing well.

uh, the $100 Sol Ring, is for a BETA Sol Ring. Which I doubt drew has, his is most likely revised or unlimited, so worth a lot less. Its a sweet card though! I

Made it to the finals of tonight's FNM with my trusty Vampire deck, and the Jund player and I split. Which is fortunate, since that's a turrible matchup for my deck and in the two games we played for fun he demolished me. Played against a cruddy G/W Novablast Wurm/Avenger of Zendikar deck first round, then a Blue-White-Red control deck second, a black/red aggro deck round three, a vamps mirror match round four and then split with Jund round five. Used the credit and some I had saved up to get four Scalding Tarns for a Grixis cruel control deck, pretty stoked about that.
