Incredibly, the worst is indeed true in Assassin’s Creed 2 – and, it appears, will be for Settlers 7 too. No matter what you’re doing, no matter what the reason, the game will refuse to let you continue playing if it decides you’re not online. You’re dumped right back to a menu, losing any progress made since the last checkpoint. If you don’t have a constant, uninterrupted internet connection, you can’t play. Let’s list some of the reasons you might drop your net connection, shall we? Router crash, ISP problems, cat playing with the cable, microwave muddling your wi-fi connection, train going into a tunnel when you’re on 3G, Windows having a networking befuddlement, someone else in the house torrenting the bandwidth dry…

Lul. Looks like I'll have to torrent it- My connection drops like once an hour for 30 seconds or so.

Draconian DRM that upsets legitimate gamers and is useless against pirates? I am SHOCKED.

I can't wait until we get to the point where you need to get a triplicate form signed by the Pope and register your DNA on Bioware's server in order to use the horse armor you purchased online if you want to play offline.

I would agree, but in the case of AC2, they're also charging $60 for it (to be fair, it includes the two DLC packs valued at $9).  Oh, and this is after the four month delay of the PC version, which was only delayed so people wouldn't pirate it on PC and buy the console one  :lol (I laugh but I did just that  :-[)

I don't care much for AC2 since I have the 360 version and it's more Splinter Cell that I'm worried about.

Sincerely I doubt it.  Console userbases are a mix of predominantly offline and online users.  Cd keys? Maybe.  But if you're predominantly dealing with a userbase that buys their games from a store then I don't think these measures will come into play.

DRM servers for AC2 are down.

People who bought the game cannot play it.

Apparently the cracked version doesn't really let you do much, you can wander the world but can't progress the story or game.

Apparently only 5% of users were affeced :lol

So 5% of legitimate owners of a single player game couldn't play their game due to a login server issue.

Is that 5% of users were affected, or that only 5% of the users owned legitimate copies. :smug
