Oh, no way does Obama okay a ground invasion of Iran. Even president Romney would probably consider that a third rail.
But the further you look into the future, the more likely it is that failing to normalize relations will bite someone in the ass. Iran will continue to militarize cause they're paranoid about a US invasion, Israel will in turn be more paranoid about a strike from Iran. A couple decades from now people will forget the lessons of Iraq like they forgot the ones from Vietnam, and one dramatic incident might set off a whole war.
It's really fucking irresponsible of pundits to seek short term domestic political gains by telling people that foreigners are out to kill them in their sleep.
