Why hasn't anyone developed Ad-Block for the TV?

Because I would immediately block those e-trade commercials with the talking babies and whichever commercial it is that plays "All You Need is Love" that I hear a thousand times a day.

If I'm watching TV live, I always just change the channel or mute it during commercials.

I usually have the TV on in the background when I'm at my computer, so I hear these awful commercials all the time. If I could just have this thing that I can tell to block certain commercials during live TV [not even all of them!], I'd be really happy.

I haven't watched anything on live TV for a years.  Record and then skip ads manually.

I read something briefly on the weekend about software that can skip ads automatically.  Don't know anything beyond that or whether it's reliable.
