Yes, I understand that there are rules, and that he's representing his country. I understand that he's a punk.
But he DID show up in the uniform. And let's remember that pro snowboarders make most of their money by endorsing snowboarding gear with baggy-ass trousers. Looking the part is key to the kid's income. Looking like a square is going to kill his street cred. All he's doing is wearing something a bit more like what he wears in the actual competition!
If they want him to show up (with his talent), it behooves the Ski Association to compromise a bit on their regulations as well. You think Shaun White didn't get a great big whopping pass on what he wears while walking through the airport? Anyone tell him to get a haircut, do you think? If they want the top talent in an image-conscious sport, they should be prepared to deal with a little bit of scruff.
Business - haha, you're right, you weren't trying to invalidate my opinion IN THE LEAST with a dumb-ass ad hominem. And why would I take it personally that you think I'm a weakling! Clearly I am overreacting, being too serious and taking it all too personally. My bad!
