Back when I managed a comic shop, I would always hate it whenever this kind of "comic book sells for big bucks" non-news hit the papers. For a couple of days afterwards we'd have people calling or coming by claiming they also had an Action Comics #1, or a Detective Comics #27, Batman #1, etc. Almost every single time it was one of the Famous First Edition oversized exact reprints DC did back in the early 70s. When you tried to explain that what they had was only worth a couple of bucks at most (at that time period), they'd think you were trying to rip them off. I had a couple cuss me and hang up.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_Comics_1#Reprints

Do they have like a serial number system on them or something?Pretty hard because any serious buyer would have it tested. It's all about how aged the paper is and if the ink is correct. If you were going to scam some asshole at the local comic book shop, it may work.
