yea i'm still playing
i "finished" single player mode and on online i got to rank 18 which let me fight a good 75% of the in-game monsters,right now i'm fighting some giant fire lizard so i can turn it into a spear so i can turn a giant tiger into another different spear so i can turn this giant digging lizard into a sword

how is this single-player? the two psp mh titles were brutal in sp.

also i don't know how the older titles worked but here monsters in SP are made less tougher to take in account that there is only one guy punching them in the face

maaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnn farming monster can be so annoying,it takes forever to kill giant flaming lizard and after killing it,it didn't drop none of the stuff i needed to make the fire spear 

uuuuuuuhhhhhh anyway is the psp version any good? i tried playing it once but couldn't get into it (tutorial... so.... boring.... never.... ends....) i heard all the monsters of 3 are new so i feel like i'm missing some classic dino or something

He's wearing Rathian armor, I'm wearing Jaggi armor.  You have to kill a lot of monsters to collect the items to make it, and there is some mining involved as well.

Magus: I don't know if plates are in this or if they are as hard to get as the first one, but if so fuck me.  You'll be killing 100s of big monsters for a few drops.

According to a dude on GAF plates are still in and it looks like its drop rate still sucks.

What makes it worse is that culprit monsters such as Rathalos and Rathian now have "better" ai so they are more annoying to fight.

yea i'm ignoring plates,usualy you can get a whole set minus one piece without having to worry about that plate stuff (in that case i'm not wearing the rathalos glove)

but anyway nobody answered my question if the older monster hunter have anything worth to try that it's not on this one

also there is a new event quest,apparently you get to wear a lizard head MGS3 croc cap style

yea lances are awesome and ultimately the weapon i picked after all is said and done,as you keep playing dodging stuff becomes harder and harder while blocking becomes easier easier,of all the weapon that blocks,sword and shield kinda sucks in firepower and greatsword is sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow not to mention the block kinda sucks since you get pushed far and lose sharpness everytime you block

anyway i found a group of high level player and we had a quest where we had to kill both rathian and rathalos,there was a time were we fought both of them at the same time and it was epic stuff

basicaly you are on this ship and since he's far away you need to fire at him away with cannons and balista,then he comes close and he's so big that you can climb him and actualy dig him for ore!

Nah, judging by how people post about Nintendo here, Triumph was raped the hardest.  So hard it still gives him flashbacks anytime he hears a cheap italian stereotype or sees an uninspired retread attempting to cash in on nostalgia.

SoulSilver came out that month, then White the following year. Those are both also time-dominating games.

No Pokemon game announced for this year means I had to find a similar massive timesink game for Wii or DS and ta da, MH Tri came up on Andrex Plinko. It also helped I've had the demo for years now.

I *would* like to point out that so far, in spite of Monster Hunter not being a Nintendo first party game, more Nintendo fans came out to buy Tri than Sony fans came out to buy the others

I liked what I saw of MH4. All the crazy jumping around, pretty much the perfect complement to the water stuff Tri introduced.

This game is pretty fun.

The first "OMG" Lagiacrus encounter was ruined by its icon being up on the map. The upgrade system is throwing me for a loop though. Need to find a good guide for that.

Also: why lock out weapon types at the beginning? I've actually gotten decent with the Great Sword. But I practiced in the demo with Long Sword. First world problems.

I doubt they'll change much if any of the core mechanics. What I saw was just a better jumping and evading system.

Anyways Tri really reminds me of the original Crystal Chronicles. Same kind of rustic, questy feel that extends to the art design and music. Obviously the gameplay is different, but there's similar trappings.

Animal Crossing doesn't have bait.  Although that would be a good idea.

Re: MH4 trailer.  I don't believe the trailer was indicative of gameplay.  It looked like a showcase for combat mechanics they may want to introduce, otherwise it seems they were splicing gameplay footage with scripted cutscene stuff for the purposes of a dramatic trailer. The western concept of setpiece game design would not translate well into the franchises multiplayer and would be at odds with the variable gameplay of the series (things play out differently depending on armor/abilities/etc.)

Fighting Royal Ludroth for 40 minutes. Already died once (stupid confusion!)

Used all my potions and supplies. Down to about half health.

WIIMOTE FRICKING DIES

Pressing all buttons on it, the lights don't even blink!

Rip condom off, tear off back cover and remove and insert battery. Press buttons again. If it even blips alive for a second I can press Home and pause the game.

Scramble around, find old Wiimote.

WON'T SYNC (from an old Wii)

From sweat and grime that playtime accrues, the battery cover is sealed on like glue. SLAM on the table. SLAM SLAM. Finally I pry it off, and press the sync button on both it and the Wii.

All the while, my character floats haplessly in the water as Cha Cha distracts the monster. When it does attack me, I'm wielding the Great Sword so I auto-defend.

40 minutes on R. Ludroth?  Nooooooooooob.  To be serious he pretty much always gave me trouble till I got the introductry long sword.  That thing is definitely easy mode on some monsters.

I WILL EARN MY LONG SWORD DAMNIT  I didn't spend hours and hours training with LS on the demo to have my skills wasted.

I don't know how to feel about water combat. On the one hand, for the most party it works pretty well, better than I imagined. On the other hand, sometimes it gets really clusterfucky and unintuitive (just like the game lololol ) Putting the first one in the swamp area was a bad idea, too much underwater foliage getting in the way. ALSO: why DON'T Zr and Zl go up and down in Control Type 1 like in CT2?? They're basically useless buttons in CT1! Nothing uses them. I don't get the logic.

Barroth?! He's got a stack of health but is dumb as dishwater and can be tired pretty quickly. Traps and bombs, traps and bombs. Perhaps if you've got nothing but blunt weapons?

At the time yes, the only sharp weapon I had at the time was some jaggi great sword.  I have to use a water elemental sword and shield these days.

So I took a few months off after Barroth since I dunno, life was getting kinda busy. Then I ripped all my Wii games in preparation for Xenoblade... but all that game made me want to do was go back to MH3. So back I am.

Beat the URGENT QUEST for Gobul, who was kind of a pain but mostly due to the underwater combat. Making me dodge up instead of left or right = Also he really wore out my blade, kept getting way dull quickly. I was on my last whetstone, used it, died, had no more potions, then the "Your blade has dulled" message came up and I was like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu but I killed him three whacks later.

Such a rush, I had forgotten how thrilling it is to win in this game.

So now I have unlocked THE FROZEN MOUNTAINS or whatever and FOUR STAR QUESTS. I'm almost a real MonHun player now!

Oh man, when I selected the quest I had forgotten how to use items. I tried selecting them through my pouch and I was like WHY Y U NO LET ME EAT RATION!! Then I remembered and was like, ooh, woops. I was getting worried I had forgotten all my combos, but I wailed on some ludroth and was like, nope, still remember.

Playing MH is like riding a bike. You never forget the awkward control scheme. 

Anyways the game is kind of hard to make out, it's like sub-SD and the bloom doesn't help. This game is crying to be played in Dolphin but then I can't play online. Maybe I'll just have to transfer the files back and forth when I finally build my Dolphin machine...

FUCK I've failed the "Repel Laggy" quest four times in a row. Goddamn water combat is such a bitch, and so is he. Fuck him. I'll enjoy carving his carcass and wearing his skin to show all his monster friends how badass I am.

I guess I should finish the other four star quests even though it's the "Urgent" one...
