My first reaction to this news was "wait, did the first one ever come out?"
My second reaction was "did I buy it?"

I can't tell if the answer is yes or no.  That's kinda scary!

Bought.

First Dishwasher was quite good. The only major problem with it was the terrible graphics. They were so bad they would occasionally become an obstacle. This does not look to fix that problem...

Still not as bad as Space Giraffe though. That game is truly unplayable because of the vomit they call graphics.

Terrible game.  The art for angsty 12 year olds didn't give it any favors either. :yuck

Space Giraffe was made by a guy who makes screensavers. Too bad he hadn't figured how to make playable screensavers.

The Dishwasher OTOH was made by a guy who knows his games and can apparently code, but has a fatal one-two punch combination: programmer art sensibilities and marginal art capability. I mean, it's not The Magenta Cube Which Is The Player Character that is a hallmark of programmer art; it's just that the latter problem led to the couple hours I spent in co-op play were living through some dank, greasy kid's Pee-Chee folder full of doodles from shop class.

Tempest 2000, Llamatron, and Gridrunner Revolution disagree with you and are pretty damn good games although I agree Space Giraffe goes a bit overboard on the visuals.

I gave up on Jeff Minter when he cried that Frogger outsold his game. LMAO

at its core the first game was a very well balanced designed 2d brawler/action game, but the graphics.... oh my god the graphics. They werent just an obstacle, they ruined the game. And the comic panels between levels were so bad you'd think the game was taking the piss, but it wasnt.

Basically Im really sick of games with no sense of humor. Stuff that so OMG extreme and dark and serious. See also Halo, 90% of GTA4, Medals of Duty etc.

I'm pretty sure The Dishwasher is self-aware, and self-mocking. But you're right, it's still atrocious and unbearably ugly.

I liked Space Giraffe even though I was terrible at it. Sure sign of a good game.

I'm gonna buy this eventually, I don't even need the demo to know it's great. The first Dishwasher is one of the best games on XBLA, it's a shame the graphics are so bad that they get in the way of gameplay. That's all I want fixed in Vampire Smile.

But considering I just got like 9 XBLA games over the past two weeks, I think I'll need to put this on hold for a minute. Bad timing.
