It's USB.  Not every USB port charges it, but it should have no problem in one from your computer.

now that i've thought about it, they could still be repro copies.  If it goes on ebay before it gets to the VGA, that'll smell pretty suspicious.   especially since the stuff is looking crisp like its been in an air tight box for 20 years.

its Tri-Ace, so the battle system should at least be interesting, right?   I dunno...i'm picking away at 3 right now and I won't mind 4 if it has a similar battle system + collectible shit to do + skill learning and all that fun gameplay stuff.

but don't watch the cut scenes if anyone is within earshot, particularly the FBI

Ghost Babel is indeed a great game. The music is fantastic

I wish the portable MGS games after this stuck with this game's format and used a fixed camera instead of trying to bring a fully 3D shooter to a system with one analog stick.

There's now a Metal Gear Solid The Legacy Collection for PS3 coming in June.  Not to be confused with the other two MGS collections Konami has already released.

MGS1
MGS VR Missions
MGS2 HD
MGS3 HD (+MG1 and MG2)
MGSPW HD
MGS4

My guess is the collection will actually be the HD Collection (MGS2/3/PW) and MGS4 on a separate blu-ray, then download codes for MGS1 and VR Missions.

yeah, even a PSN release of MGS1 with a res bump and anti-aliasing would be nice.  would make a lot of the close ups fugly since the chars don't have face, but the actual gameplay looks nice.

but i'm part of the problem that buys this shit regardless

Dark Souls-like is the new "it's a metroidvania," but worse because the games have practically no resemblance to Dark Souls, nor share any mechanics.

To be fair, Dark Souls does have a few elements of Rogue. But it isn't a full on rogue like, being that it's not turn based, tile-based, and there's no perma death.

From one of the giantbomb podcasts a few weeks ago (paraphrased): "ZombiU prepared me for Monster Hunter, which will prepare me for Dark Souls."

also, "rogue-like-like." or that one time someone said Zelda Skyward Sword is a loot game because you collect bugs.

Death penalty. While you don't have perma death, but you still lose stuff that makes you punished for dying, a cornerstone of roguelikes. Souls games also have a random element (invaders for instance) which, while it isn't a complete match for the random dungeons of roguelikes, is still notable enough enough to make a comparison.

Hence "elements".

It's not the exact opposite because roguelikes are more than being turn based, tile based, and having perma death. A big thing with roguelikes is the random nature. You never know what you're going to get, and the difficulty of having to start over because you died from an enemy. While not 1:1, Souls games definitely give off a similar feeling at times.

invasions are literally the only random thing in Dark Souls. All the stage layout, enemy placements, item drops, etc. are static. It isn't even rouge-like-like.

Now, a Souls game with permadeath and random stage layout, enemy placement, item drops, etc. would be pretty fucken awesome.
