Tried Tyranny as part of this whole Steam badge thing this weekend. Game seems to have a million faction bars and skill bars and so many systems and the only correct choices are variations of being shitty. Also I died a lot to the second encounter.

Great stuff.

My favorite Castlevania covers however are made by this guy.

Some weird dude with a mask that plays insane Castlevania 4 covers as if he wrote the originals.

i've always imagined a lot of those more fly-by-night seeming console remasters or whatever probably have a bunch of junk on the discs

sports games have always had lots of legacy stuff on their discs in part because they're afraid to remove some of it and in part because the cycles are nine to ten months so they just dummy it out at the top level, like hooks to former players names for commentary, in NBA Live for a number of years you could do something as simple as putting the number back in the database for the roster and it'd say them again until they changed to a different announcer so all the files were new

it's a bad example, especially because they're still in the game as a legend and on the classic teams, but it'd be like typing in "1605" or something and they'd say "Tim Duncan" or "Kevin Garnett" or "Kobe Bryant" again like he was any other player...2K actually accidentally left Steve Nash out last year I think and issued a patch which was simply a database change as all his files were already still there from years prior

Bought a ps+ sale that had pretty much everything for BF 1 and TF 2 for 15e.  :D

Suddenly the crappy UI and all that other shit makes sense since the whole thing was designed for consoles.  :-\ And it's actually very good for those platforms.

I LOL'd when Trevor had a car waiting for him in that first video. Man, a car would've been nice at several points in Dark Souls.

I also LOL'd at the youtuber saying, "There's not much more to be said about these levels" when the actual statement is, "There's not much more I can add about these levels." I'm sure the team could tell some interesting background information that he doesn't have.

Something definitely happened with that studio this past year. When Teddy Dief announced he was leaving it seemed inevitable that they were going to be shutting it down but who knows.

Game holds up visually, looks nice. Not sure if this will eventually lead to a Switch port but I hope so.

The right analog stick is used as the pointer but apparently it's awkward and not a great solution. Hopefully Nintendo could come up with something better if they developed the port internally.

NASA finds ‘ancient organic material’ on Mars, continues search despite Doom’s warnings

https://www.pcgamer.com/nasa-finds-ancient-organic-material-on-mars-continues-search-despite-dooms-warnings/?ns_campaign=article-feed&ns_mchannel=ref&ns_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0

Quote
Earlier today, NASA reported that its Mars Curiosity rover made some curious new discoveries on the Red Planet. Alas, still no aliens: the rover found some rocks—some billion-year-old rocks—containing "ancient organic material." There was also mention of some "mysterious" methane fluctuations in Mars' atmosphere, but I'm more concerned with the ancient organic stuff, which, it should be noted, does not mean ancient living stuff. Organic material can be produced without life. But still.

Quote
Less encouraging is what Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator at NASA's Science Mission Directorate, had to say:

"With these new findings, Mars is telling us to stay the course and keep searching for evidence of life. I'm confident that our ongoing and planned missions will unlock even more breathtaking discoveries on the Red Planet."

Mate, Mars is telling you to leave well enough alone before you open another portal to Hell.

So with the teaser of TES VI and having played too much Skyrim, is ESO pretty good?  I'm reading that it's basically an online Skyrim, but with better combat.  Is that true?  Anyone played it at all?   I believe what turned me off initially was the monthly fee, but it seems that has been dropped.

It really does though. They haven't made a bad game yet. Quantum Break is really great game and a spiritual successor has me really hyped.

And that's really what this looks like.

Same engine with very similar aesthetics.  Similar use of powers and gunplay. Using one of the main actors from QB.

This game looks great.

For awhile. Runs like shit unless you've got a beast, but it's got some interesting mechanics. I suspect they put it out so early partly because they saw the deluge of battle royale offshoots coming this fall/next year and wanted to establish themselves a little in the market first.

They had to make some big changes recently because of course, ppl didn't want to kill the boss monster but instead just camp around and gank whoever went in and did it.
