Finally got my RetroTink 5X Pro, ran some PS1 and PS2 games. Works great, love that I can just plug this bitch in, and it spits out a nice picture without any fuss. Gonna dick around with random games and consoles this week

My biggest frustration with JSR was the left shoulder button being mapped to grafitti and camera reset... and the kinda twitchy analog controls. But damn what a fun game, I loved the soundtrack. Never was able to beat it though...

JSR's controls are so bad that it's not just the Dreamcast controller that hurts, play the PC version with a Xbox controller and it's painful after a while. Even an One controller!

No idea how I beat that on the Dreamcast back in the day.

This Voice of the Cards SE card rpg is pretty legit. Reminds me of the one Matsuno did on DS or 3DS except this one plays faster and is more accessible. But it lacks the cool Matsuno dialogue charm.

It's still a bit sluggish in UI, hopefully there's a PC version where you can boost the game speed a bit. Seems like it might be worth playing if so.

This is like the most incredibly normal game they have ever made. It's nice, but I don't feel like it's going to go Drakengard dark or Nier weird from the demo. I'm pretty surprised this is them. I think I'd actually enjoy this concept more if it was a card based rpg with wacky weird Taro shit.

Hot Wheels Unleashed is getting good reviews. I watched a couple vids and it basically looks like Trackmania?

This is the kind of game I wish was on game pass. Would play it, but not interested enough to buy it, especially with Forza Horizon 5 like a month away.

Also Robotics;Notes was on-sale for pretty cheap. I really liked Steins;Gate so I picked it up. Then I saw people saying that the first game in this Science Adventure VN trilogy, Chaos;Head, which not really important to Steins;Gate, is super essential to know/play before Robotics;Notes.

So I looked around and how the fuck with how popular Steins;Gate is in the west, is Chaos;Head still not officially localized? Apparently there's some rights dispute crap behind the scenes, but that doesn't stop them from releasing it on every platform (except Switch) in Japan.

Ordered a $70 used copy of Chaos;Head Noah VITA because it's apparently rare and my Vita still works. Gonna use my weaboo powers to give it a read. Yeah, there's a fan-translation for free for the old PC version, but I'd rather play the updated Noah version that was on X360 and Vita in Japan.

I was going to buy it digital for like $32 on the PSN JP store but what I learned is that if a game is rated Z (aka fucked up shit), you cannot buy it on the Playstation store with gift card codes, like you have to have a Japanese credit card because they want to identify all the sick fucks who buy these games, or just that you're over 18. Pretty bullshit since that's how people import stuff is with gift code cards...

Morale of the story is they should just localize this fucking game in English and release it on Steam/Switch/etc... already.

It appears that this is not a trilogy- there's a fourth game in the series called Chaos;Child that got released in English and is a sequel to Chaos;Head. So why didn't they localize Chaos;Head too?

With Trails of the Black, Kondo already lying through his teeth that he's trying to keep it at two games but it's just so difficult because it's so big.

Which is the same shit he said every game in Cold Steel and why it ended up being four 100 hour bloated games. He's not an idiot, he already knows how many games Calvard arc is gonna be, but he's just too spineless to say it and scare off potential customers that he's doing another long ass game like Cold Steel.

Oh well, I just hope they really learned some lessons from Cold Steel.

Amazing atmosphere in BO. It plays like ALttP but maybe a little too bloated. On PS1 it sadly was one of those games that had to load up everything all the time, including for the menu to open.

It was the first game I got for PS1.

The ambience and atmosphere were kinda mind blowing to me back then. Of course, I haven't played it since then too, so I'm going purely on nostalgia. It was my first breakaway from owning only Sega stuff, so it felt pretty damn good.

Switch Pro cope

It's really simple, Nintendo had a meeting.
They looked at the cost of a 4K Switch and what it would cost to you know, not do 4K.
And they looked at how many players were using handheld vs. TV mode.

If they do 4K on Switch they'll just release a dock with a $5 DLSS upscaler.
Nintendo has no problem selling Switch tier hardware for the next 2, 3 or even 5 years.
Especially with these chip shortages.

In 2022 the focus is on Splatoon 3 and a bunch other games and the Mario Movie (and if I had to make a 'wild' guess a Mario game to ie in with that movie)
2023 is when BOTW2 releases.

2024 is when they'll announce / release their next system unless the Switch drops off a cliff in 2022.
In between '22 - '24 you will see a bunch of refreshes, special editions etc. .

Jack Fantasy’s 2nd demo is pretty fun. Gameplay feels snappier, and I liked the new area.
