I was pretty bad at the Civ 5 demo but is Sid Meiers Civilization IV: The Complete Edition for $10 a good buy? Is Civ 4 harder than Civ 5?

Civ IV > CiV V so far

you know i don't think i will ever understand why every tri-ace game has to have an exploit that makes you god-like...

basicaly it works like this,if you bring to level 40 a character that permanently leaves your party, they drop a special item, one of these special item is a sword that's stronger than end-game weapon and you get this halfway trough the game.....

star ocean 2 has a similiar exploit,at a certain point in the game you can pay 10.000 to buy a pickpocket gauntlet which let you gain items from NPC,10.000 is an exorbitant price for that point of the game,BUT WAIT! there is an enemy that drops an item which you can sell for 1000 bucks,so you can actualy get the gauntlet even at that point, after you get the gauntlet you can return to an earlier city and steal stuff, one of the NPC has an item that generate 3 random item picked from every item in the game,HELLO END GAME SWORD!

radiata stories has special training battle which yield huge amount of experience

Here’s what happens when a red-hot videogame franchise goes cold: You can buy the whole company for the same price as a single copy of the game.

I had a hunch that Viacom sold off Harmonix, which makes the Rock Band games, at a steep discount last month. But I’m still surprised it was this cheap: I’m told that investment group Columbus Nova paid $49.99–the list price for “Rock Band 3″–and got the entire company.

There’s more to the story, of course: People familiar with the transaction tell me Harmonix’s buyers also assumed the game company’s liabilities. That includes expensive music rights fees, and responsibility for lots of unsold games and equipment sitting on warehouse shelves.

And I’m told that the deal is structured in a way that will let Viacom net something like $150 million in tax benefits, similar to the AOL/Bebo fire sale last year. Given that Viacom paid $175 million for Harmonix a few years ago, things could be worse.

Still, it’s a fire sale price no matter how you look at it. And that can’t be comforting to Harmonix’s remaining employees, who are likely going to be facing a very serious restructuring.

Columbus Nova’s PR reps wouldn’t comment on the sale terms (neither would Viacom) but pointed me to an earlier statement from the company, which said it was “really excited about backing the world-class team that has consistently produced such great games and helping them grow the company and its brands.”

I stop in on gamefaqs now and again to look up stuff or skim advice from various threads. It was a bad idea.

Quote
The Kremlings were much deeper villains because they added a layer of social commentary to the game. The Kongs represented the peaceful people of primitive societies. The Kremlings, on the other hand, symbolized the military industrial complex. They march into untarnished lands and take and open factories (Kremkroc Industries Inc.) and take all natural resources as their own (symbolized by bananas). This is not unlike the story told in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings in which Saruman, once a good wizard who came to Middle-Earth in order to aid the Men and Elves against the Dark Lord Sauron, destroys the forest surrounding his tower of Orthanc in order to create weapons of war in mass. King K. Rool and his Kremlings are arguably worse than even Saruman of Many Colors because whereas Saruman industrialized the land in his home in Isengard, Rool and his army of reptilian tyrants invaded an island surrounded by peaceful Kong creatures.

This is shown visually ingame by the Klumps' army style helmets which, as you all know, prevent Diddy Kong from killing them by jumping on their heads. This of course represents the powerless feeling the average individual feels when faced with the military industrial complex, and it takes a true crusader of liberty (that's Donkey Kong) to destroy them.

We also see parallels between the original Donkey Country trilogy and the final installment of a much more well known trilogy: Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. While Luke is confronting Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, and the rebel fleet under Admiral Ackbar are attacking the Death Star II, the Ewoks are on the moon of Endor defending themselves against the Empire. The Kremlings are just the like the Galactic Empire and the real world military industrial complex because all three of them have an unfair technological advantage when it comes to achieving their common goals. The Ewoks, armed only with their ingenuity and the spirit of freedom, defeat the Imperial forces using primitive attack methods. This is exactly like the way the Kongs defeated the K. Roolian Empire with barrels as their only weapon against imperialism.

Donkey Kong Country may look like a cute, little game on the outside, but on the inside it is a much deeper story that echoes the horrors of our modern age.
