I get a random email from gamestop with a demo code for Motorstorm 3, which apparently comes out on the US PSN tomorrow.

Then I read that the demo has been out for a week, for everyone, on the Euro PSN store.  wait, so what's the point of having exclusive demo codes?

dude you're my bro, BoF 5 is one of the most infuriating games I've ever played. Everything you wrote is spot on. I remember having so much difficulty reaching save points and kept dying or got stressed out that a strong enemy would approach me because I didn't have much health left anymore and I was out of healing items which happened oh so much. And that limited inventory slots was outrageous, it was like 10 things max or something? Holy shit.

You'll notice that it's mostly people who don't like or haven't played the previous BoF's (3 and 4 in particular) who love that PIECE OF SHIT game the most. Having said that I can't understand people who don't like BoF3 and 4. They're like the perfect classic jrpgs, especially 3. The game is stuffed with fun stuff to do, the music rules, the battle system kicks ass, you got minigames all over the place and it's fun to explore towns and dungeons. You simply don't like jrpgs if you hate this game :/

BOF3 is fucking sick, although it's a bit heavy on the fetchquesting and has some infuriating parts (the desert and getting cooking supplies for the mayor)... how could one hate a game where you get to fight a wiseass Dolphin who speaks in an Aussie accent?

5 was good for what it was, though. It was certainly unique. If Capcom was to make a new BOF, I wouldn't mind either a traditional game or a Dragon Quarter-esque game.

Cooking supplies for the mayor? :wtf
Are you talking about the sushi ingredients? That wasn't really hard from what I remember and I replayed the game over a year ago. But fuck you're right about the desert part. It's one of those parts in games where it's almost impossible to advance without a guidebook, it really wasn't explained well in the game or it was just too difficult. But that really doesn't take away from how fulfilling the rest of the game is. BoF3 is a truly underrated RPG. Not much people talk about it which boggles me :/

As for another game like Dragon Quarter... I don't care if it's made but for fuck's sake don't call it 'Breath of Fire'.
It's like making a third person first-person-shooter game, you know?

Yeah, the PSP remake came to Euroland, I think Frys was selling the Euroland copies of that and Tales of Destiny 2/Eternia at their stores too, even... never picked up copies. I think I remember hearing that the loadtimes on the PSP version of BOF3 are terribad though, you might be better off tracking down a copy of the PS1 disc.

You mean it's not 16:9 with overhauled menu screens at the very least? if true I'll skip it. I remember playing the PS1 version on the PSP but wasn't really impressed with how it looked stretched and thought about playing the PSP port instead.

So whats the general consensus? Bof III > IV? I never played 3 but thought 4 was awesome when I was a kid and all this BoF talk made me download and spend ~6 hours playing it today. It's a really cool game, the isometric view is a little weird but it's art is great and the battle system is different and deep enough to be interesting.

They're both pretty good, but I'd probably have to go with BoF III.

By the way, if you're willing to cough up $40 you can get BoF IV on PC:

There's that DQ strategy RPG by Intelligent Systems but I don't know whether or not that's any good. Also Cave Story, I think, if you don't have it in one of the other hundred forms its in. My girlfriend is in love with some Plants vs Zombies game which got a release today. I don't know much at all about DSiWare truthfully, Shantae and the DQ game were all that really stood out to me.

They're both pretty good, but I'd probably have to go with BoF III.

By the way, if you're willing to cough up $40 you can get BoF IV on PC

:lol i dont really pay for out of print games, especially not PC games (unless it's DD like GOG, or remakes for XBLA/PSN etc). Plus I'm 99% sure it's easier to play old console games on my PC than old PC games, static hardware, good emulators etc vs bad programming, optimised for weird old hardware (ie Glide 3D cards)  Funny that.

I'll try BoF III too, but think I'll stick with IV now since I'm quite far through. I'm playing ME2 again too so I've got enough to do.

Anyone else here do their ME2 Insanity run with a Sentinel? I was thinking of going with an Infiltrator but I wanted to try a Sentinel more so I went with it. Tech Armour is so good, maxed it early and it was worth it, it floors all enemies in a massive radius when it drops, then pumps my regular shields up again halfway instantly, in practice (if played properly) I essentially have infinite shields. So far (just beat the collector ship and recruited Thane) it's been cake outside of a few select encounters; the 2 battles with the collectors where theres scions involved (end of Horizon, end of Collector ship). Every battle with the collectors is easy until Scions come into play. The AI is too simple to know to stay in cover when shockwave is about to hit them so they tend to always die unless I put them in cover away from my position and I draw the Scions which works OK when there's room (final battle with husks/scions on Horizon) otherwise I tend to just leave them dead. I mean the teammate AI is never perfect, they make all sorts of silly decisions, but they're generally serviceable. Until Scions come around, then it's rape time. I imagine the infiltrator destroys them with the widow, but now I have Warp ammo and Sniper training (and a crapload of upgrades) I'm looking forward to my next encounter with them.

quietID I like both 3 and 4, but 3 definitely has an enormous edge over 4. While 4 is a pretty good BoF game, 3 is like the king. One of the little things that bothered me about 4 is how terrible the dragon forms were. The half of them had the same dark red/colourless little kobold design. They definitely could have used some change. And there's this thing about BoF4 where it feels like the game lacks some primary colours. When I think about 4 all I see are the colours beige, bordeaux, light blue, grey and green. It's not as colourful as 3, feels very soulless.

Besides those issues, the combat system with the combos rule, I especially vividly remember the certain combo technique you could use against those tree-trunk type enemies that would give you massive exp points.
Oh and most towns and locations sucked ass, not as fun to explore as in 3 :(

Shak Rukh Khan get BoF3 man, whichever version you decide on, just get it! I want to discuss it with you  :D

March 30th: Strania: The Stella Machina ( + Rush'N Attack Ex-Patriot, but that looks not so good)
April 6th: Dishwasher 2
April 13th: Clash of Heroes HD
Plus Moon Diver will be out on PSN on March 29th... XBLA shouldn't be too far behind.
