Amazing Spider-man preorder bonus from Amazon: Stan Lee mode

Gamestop has a mission where you play as Rhino.  This retail exclusive shit sucks.  And because it's a Marvel game, I think Walmart is the only place that will have the PC version.

Yeah, I'm about halfway through the launch lineup I picked up.  Starting to feel iffy about lack of upcoming releases, but I should play the rest of the good launch titles first!

LOS ANGELES — Now that they’ve saved the world on film, “The Avengers” are teaming up for a motion-control video game.

Ubisoft Entertainment announced a partnership Thursday with Marvel Entertainment to create a game based on the popular Marvel superhero posse. The game will be titled “Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth” and will be released for both the upcoming Wii U console from Nintendo Co. and the camera-based Kinect system for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft Corp.

“The idea that we’re making a motion-control version of ‘The Avengers’ is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past,” said Tony Key, Ubisoft’s vice president of sales and marketing, in making the announcement to The Associated Press. “This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They’re always fighting and throwing things.”

“Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth” will focus on such characters as Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk fending off an invasion of genetically altered Skrull aliens. The title will feature more than 20 characters from the Marvel universe and would be based on the “Secret Invasion” comic series, not the recent film.No release date was announced, but Key said the disc-based title is expected to launch after Nintendo debuts the Wii U later this year. The successor to Nintnedo’s Wii will feature high-definition graphics, increased online capabilities and a touch-pad controller. He said more details about the game would be unveiled at next month’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.

The game will be the latest addition to Ubisoft’s motion-control arsenal. Previous titles released by the Canadian publisher that rely on gesture-based devices include the artsy shooter “Child of Eden,” street brawler “Fighters Uncaged,” superhero dueler “PowerUp Heroes,” the “Your Shape” fitness franchise and top-selling “Just Dance” series.

“Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth” will mark the first time that the “Assassin’s Creed” publisher has developed a game based on a franchise from Marvel, which was purchased in 2009 by The Walt Disney Co. The developers previously worked with “Avatar” director James Cameron to craft a third-person 3-D action-adventure game set on the planet Pandora.

Sega created each of the games pegged to the films of “The Avengers” forerunners, including last year’s “Thor: God of Thunder” and “Captain America: Super Soldier,” but there was no console game released this year alongside director Joss Whedon’s blockbuster “The Avengers,” just the mobile game “Marvel’s The Avengers” and Facebook title “Marvel: Avengers Alliance.”

Fans freaked out last year over unofficial footage and concept art posted online of a first-person “Avengers” game that was reportedly in development by THQ Inc. The footage of Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America and Thor battling the infamous Skrull was yanked by Marvel from YouTube. A representative for Marvel declined to be interviewed for this story.

Traditionally, games based on Marvel movies have been released around the same time as their super-powered counterparts to benefit from parallel buzz. The open-world action-adventure title “The Amazing Spider-Man” from Activision Inc. is set for release June 26, ahead of director Marc Webb’s film of the same name on July 3.The big-screen adaptation of “The Avengers” starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye has smashed box office records, earning $207.4 million domestically in its opening weekend.

“For us, that obviously raises the brand itself to an even higher level, and that’s good for our video game because we have an opportunity to reach a broader audience than just the guys who love comic book characters,” said Key, who added that “Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth” would be family friendly despite the game’s focus on fighting.

Marvel’s superheroes have been a dominant presence throughout the history of games. They most recently assembled for the Capcom brawler “Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3” and the Activision Inc. role-playing sequel “Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2.” Gazillion Entertainment is currently developing a free-to-play online game featuring them called “Marvel Heroes.”

According to Global Times (via TechInAsia), Beijing attorney Liu Lin is suing Kane & Lynch's developer, Denmark-based IO Interactive, and its publisher, Square Enix. The reason? "I can't bear it, especially the vicious vilifying of our people," said Liu, a lawyer from Beijing Shuangli Law Firm. "They must be taught a lesson."

Liu is seeking 10,000 yuan (US$1,585) in damages.

The description explains it a bit. Basically, it's an Arma II mod with a group of soldiers, who are trying to destroy weapons caches, and lots of civilians. Soldiers get penalized for killing unarmed civilians, but it's hard to tell which is which sometimes. And the civilians try to be as annoying as possible when they're unarmed to distract the soldiers from the armed civilians.

3DS is just a bit over a year old at this point and these are the games Mario has been announced to lead in:

- Super Mario 3D Land
- Mario Kart 7
- Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympics
- Mario Tennis Open
- New Super Mario Bros. 2
- 3DS Paper Mario

And that doesn't even include games that don't star Mario but take place in that universe, or have him as a selling point (Smash, Luigi's Mansion, and I'm sure a boat more come E3). This is a platform that was released in 2011.

Yes these games take place in a tonne of different genres, and are generally good but Nintendo has kind of ruined Mario for me. It's no longer a special occasion to see that plump plumber on a box, it's just Sunday.

Before anyone asks, I wasn't alive during the NES whore out era of shit like Mario Goes Missing, and Hotel Mario.

I got the same impression, but if you look at a list of Mario games by date you'll see that Nintendo have always been good at exploiting their main mascot. For me it's more a "been there, done that" position than feeling burned out of the series. I'm sure many of the newer games are high quality, but I haven't picked a Mario game since Super Mario All-Stars.

If they're great games, I don't care which stupid mascot they trot out.  And I always enjoy the platformers.  Half that list is crap I'm not interested in, but I just ignore it.

can a rehash of a rehash like new super mario bros 2 be a great game? nope!

anyway!

NSMB Wii?  It has new power-ups, new level gimmicks, and it adds multiplayer.  If you ever make three friends, or heaven help us, get a woman to allow you to plant your seed in her womb and have a family someday, give it a try.  It's pretty fun!

the new power ups sucks, the new level gimmicks are all horrible and involve waggling and the multiplayer is often horrible and chaotic not to mention pointless

Xbox 8 is a stupid name.

Can't wait to see what stupid name Sony calls the new PlayStation, since I really doubt it'll be PlayStation 4, and no I don't think they'll rename it due to looking inferior to the mighty Xbox 8, but rather the fact that 4 is an unlucky number in Asian cultures as well as needing to refresh the brand. While Orbis is stupid as shit, if paired with Vita you get "Circle of Life".

When Microsoft entered gaming with the original Xbox, it didn’t mimic the PlayStation 2. Instead, it created discontinuity with its product by including a hard drive and broadband-Internet support. “[The on-board storage] was an expensive way to get into the marketplace, but it made our product different,” Bach said. “It enabled downloads, it enabled a whole set of things to happen that couldn’t happen on the PS2.”

The executive also explained that Bill Gates thought that Bach and his team were crazy for wanting to remove the dial-up modem from the Xbox design. “Bill said to us, that’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard,” Bach recalled. “So we had a three-week email debate, and had to go back and have a meeting and convince Bill that taking the modem out was the right thing. Today, some people in [this audience] probably don’t even know what a modem is.”
