I thought Super Meat Boy was OK, but was always curious about its excessive praise (I've seen some people call it one of the best platformers ever, which had me rolling my eyes bigtime

SUPER MEAT BOY was great, a pure platformer devoid of any distracting frills with an emphasis on pushing yourself towards chaining together a perfect run on each level, which I found interesting. I had a lot of fun playing and trying to get the best possible time on each level. And the fact that this guy wrote a 10k word re-review dedicated to tearing the game down doesn't change my own experience with it. But:

I played through about half of the forest in super meat boy and did not enjoy my time with it. VVVVVV is a much better heavily check-pointed, bite-sized platformer with a retro tinge imo.

my issues where more in the controls department, than the difficulty. but whatevs. There are quite a few of those retro-chic, short n hard, indie platformers so it's not something I fret over.

I'm a fiend for platform games but I couldn't bring myself to 100% Meat Boy. I beat the light world and that was enough. At the end of the day I'm just not really into the "die 100 times in a level then pass it" format. Same reason I never 100%'ed N+.

You are right in a lot of ways. And to be fair I never played SMB outside of the demo so if I played it a good deal maybe it would hook me.

i was underwhelmed by the demo, but the full game is pretty sweet. i haven't 100% it, though, unlike N+ (at least the single-player).

I booted my wii up for the first time since Zelda came out. I booted up Zelda just to test that the wii still worked and saw my save file.
