I don't know much about Raiden Legacy, but I've seen people say that it's a shoddy port. You're probably better off playing them on MAME (RF Jet is especially awesome).

If you're interested in PC shmups, I'd recommend:

Blue Wish Resurrection Plus (freeware that was... heavily inspired by Cave's games)
Eden's Aegis (another free game from the same developer as BWR)
Kamui ($8 - http://www.desura.com/games/kamui Kinda like RayForce)
Crimzon Clover (great game made by one of the best players in the world, but it's only available via disc import unless you pirate it)
Touhou Project (TH7 & 8 are the best. These are also disc imports unless you pirate them)
Satazius ($6 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/203990/ I've never played this, but it looks solid. The same developer also made a good run & gun called Gigantic Army)

the first one lets you survive your vehicle being blown up / rocketed/ lasered
the second recharges your shields almost instantly, and stacks with the existing shield mod
the third removes all the stopping effects from weapons fire on you

The reason why the fps is different than it was 10 years ago or 15 years ago are two main reasons.

The first and biggest is multiplayer is huge now and a lot more of a moneymaker than it was years ago. Multiplayer is the tail that wags the dog. If you are designing an fps from a AAA perspective and spending 90% or 100% of your time on the single player, then that's both fairly rare and not representative of where the market is.

The other thing is that the masses have demonstrated with their wallet what they want in fps games and its not doom and quake style fps design anymore. I get tired of this argument that people are too lazy or too dumb to design such games anymore. They don't do it because there isn't a large market of people willing to pay for such things. With all this indie and kickstarter resurgence, shouldn't there be a shitload of old school fps games to cater to this market and desire if there were a large enough group desiring such a thing.

I think its easy to point out how fps games are different than they use to be. I think the more applicable argument is why is that and if there is a group that want that old school style fps, then why isn't that market demand being met if such a market demand exists.

Would be nice if it was actually AC 7 and a return to the normal AC. With a quote like that, it sure sounds like it could be.

AH is actually a pretty good game. I like it's additions. I do like how it's cinematic mode thingy made some dogfights more intense and bombing runs fun. It just lacks the personality of the previous 2 games that I liked.

I wonder if it could be a next gen title. I doubt it, but AH looked really good. It would be nice to see what a next gen one would be, but I doubt Namco would have AC as it's first next gen game.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is kind of totally surprisingly awesome. It's got a great structure to how you progress, the driving feels good. It takes skill to do things like, backing into a loading dock. It's just a good game.

they have also announced some asagi game but there is not a single detail about it (bet it turns out it's a vita sidescroller or something) for those that don't follow NIS game asagi is a joke character that they put in every game as a super secret hidden boss,the joke being that her game got shitcanned and she's now forced to wander around as a cameo character between other NIS games

I played a little this weekend. It's an interesting experience in that it almost feels like a sniper game which was a surprise having never played the PC version. I thought it would be all aggressive and in your face and I suppose it can happen that way but most of my experience was either taking out or getting taken out by very long distance. The gameplay stuff is mostly complete.  Its the customization, modes, and store features that are not in the game yet.

Attention ZOE HD Collection users:

Wow, this patch makes a world of difference.  They did a hell of a good job.

Without sitting down and doing a full analysis, here is what I've noticed in ZOE2 (haven't tried the original yet)

1) Framerate now operates at a stable 60 fps making it much smoother than the non-patched version as well as the PS2 original.  Only in the most extreme circumstances does the framerate dip and those dips are extremely minor.

2) Post processing anti-aliasing appears to have been added resulting in extremely crisp and clean image quality.  The original release did not use any sort of anti-aliasing.

3) Particles effects are now rendered at full resolution.  The PS2 original used low resolution particle effects in order to maintain decent performance.  I cannot actually recall if this was also true of the initial HD release but I can confirm that particles are rendered at a much higher quality now.

Those are the primary changes and they completely transform the game.  The entire snow sequence operates at 60 fps a good 99% of the time providing a faster, smoother experience than even the original release.  It feels remarkably good. 

I'm also interested in examining the textures as the ship interior appears to be extremely clean and sharp in a way that I would not have expected from PS2.

PS3 update is now live. Only ZOE2 though.

- high replay value

- multiple modes, deep with features
- chock full of content, you will get your moneys worth even if you just do the story mode
- customization, rpg elemnts, and leveling up the wazoo
- combination of rts, action rpg, and beat em up
- combos



- unparalled sense of style and sense of humor while killing dudes. In this game you can surf on a dudes body and waste him.

GTX 760 or Radeon 7870. If that's not cheap enough the I don't know. Check techreport.com or something for recommendations on the low-end. Their build guides usually start at entry level stuff and go up to multi-GPU monstrosities.
