It's not an rpg and is a simple beat em up so I have faith

That takes 100 hours to beat.

it takes that long?!?!?! bebpo are you serious? or joking. PLEASE TELL ME YOU'ER JOKING.

Googled it up cause I forgot the exact number.  My bad, 20 hours per character x 4 characters, so 80 hours!

http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/07/06/dragons-crown-will-require-about-20-hours-to-complete-just-the-story-mode-with-each-character/

It's really hard to get into kbm controlling when basically all your life you've played with a gamepad. I've dabled in Battlefield 2, but now that I have BF3 on PC I'm playing it and I'm terrible. I'm pretty solid on PS3/Xbox, but it's pretty insane on PC.

i call bullshit,i posted this on a link but i guess nobody read it >:(
apparently there are 9 stage which have a path A and a path B,after you do path A of every stage you unlock path B and the ability to play online co-op games, after beating the whole game (which cap character at level 35) you unlock PvP,a special mode with random enemies and hard mode (which cap character at level 65) and finishing hard mode unlock extreme mode (which cap character at level 99)

this guy goes trough a stage in 15 minutes

assuming you do each stage twice and that's each stage is 15 minutes then you are looking at 15 * 18 = 270 minutes = 6 hour and half per run, that hardly seems suicidal worth or worse than say... diablo 3

Play Portal 1 and 2. There's no combat so you will get used to it.

After that, play Half Life 2.

It's very hard to play against people who've had hundreds and hundreds of hours on a specific platforms. Also the 64 player thing is a huge difference. The game plays pretty different on PC versus consoles just in that aspect alone. I would try the following server below. It's a noob server. They boot anybody (except the mods) who are above a certain rank and it can help you get your feet wet against weaker competition.

Wait, am I missing something?  It looks like Kamiya is just not getting involved in this conversation.  He's not making any statements, just kind of fucking with people asking him questions that are absolutely intended to get some statement out of him that will be spun and used against him.  What's wrong with that?

Graces is 10x better than Xillia in battle system, dungeons, towns, gameplay subsystems, gameplay everything.

Xillia is a lot better than Graces in story apparently (I dropped it after 10 hours but I hear it's a good plot for a Tales game).  So basically you play for the story and deal with the shallow gameplay.

It's basically the FFXIII of the Tales series if XIII had a good story instead of a terrible one.

Final Fantasy Isn’t Dying. It’s Already Dead

BY CHRIS KOHLER
07.30.136:30 AM

(Image removed from quote.)
The new face of Final Fantasy. Uh, you are looking at her face, right? Image: Square Enix

Well, it’s been a long time coming, but I think I’m gonna call it: Final Fantasy is dead.

It’s hard to pinpoint an exact time of death on this one, but at some point during the last decade the world’s foremost Japanese role-playing game series keeled over and kicked the bucket, and now Square Enix is pretty much just defiling the corpse. Here’s an excerpt from a question-and-answer session on July 27 with Nobuhiro Goto and Motomu Toriyama, developers of the next game in the series, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

Quote
Q: Has [main character] Lightning gone from a C cup to a D cup?

Goto: Well, Toriyama-san said he wanted them bigger, so…

Toriyama: Hey, don’t try to escape responsibility for this!

Goto: Yes, we made them bigger.

Q. Was it a C cup, up until now? Are her breasts going to jiggle, this time?

Goto: Yes!

Toriyama: It depends on the clothing. Like if she’s wearing corrective underwear.

Dengeki Online’s report of the event noted further that since players can choose Lightning’s costume and weaponry, they can ensuretheir preferred amount and duration of boob jiggling through judicious equipment selection. If you want to get a better view of all those mammarial undulations, one developer noted, just have her hold a smaller shield!

Hey, I’m the last person who’s going to tell people what kinds of videogames they should and should not make. I like Leisure Suit Larry, and that game is 95 percent jokes about and/or pictures of breasts. There is room to create and play a whole wide variety of things. But if in 2013 this is what a Q&A session about Final Fantasy has become, then any claim that the series once had something approaching mainstream respectability done gone and caught the train out of town.

In its heyday, Final Fantasy was the ne plus ultra of console videogames based around strong, relatable characters and epic storylines. Sure, the games had their moments of levity, but mostly took themselves seriously enough to attempt to tackle subtle, complex themes on platforms that were largely dominated by paper-thin plots and cartoon characters. They pushed the boundaries, if imperfectly; despite what I may have believed in high school the writing was not exactly Shakespeare. But the ideas of orchestras playing the games’ amazing musical scores or of art galleries displaying the design work of Yoshitaka Amano were not out of the question. And surely today’s game designers, the people making games like BioShock Infinite or The Last of Us, were inspired in part by early Final Fantasy.

What inspiration, if any, will breast-jiggling simulator Lightning Returns pass down to a new generation of game creators? Somewhere along the line, Final Fantasy lost the plot. Original creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is long gone, and if he attempted to pass the torch to a new generation they dropped it, let it go out in the dirt and kept running anyway. The 2001 game Final Fantasy X wasn’t that bad, but the next game after that, the awkwardly-named Final Fantasy X-2, decided that what the series needed was to take all the female player characters, give them skimpier outfits and make them into J-pop stars.

And it was pretty much all downhill from there. The Final Fantasy hydra has many heads, and it’s not just the console games that are continuing the legacy of the series. But everywhere you look, it’s bad news. The original version of the Final Fantasy XIV massively multiplayer online game was so poorly received by fans that Square Enix shut it down and rebuilt it from the ground up, at what had to be an exorbitant expense. And once the new version comes out, even if it’s good, it’s still going to be an MMO with a monthly fee in an era dominated by the free-to-play model. On mobile platforms we’re getting games like Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, critically excoriated as a naked gameplay-free cash grab.

Cash cows don’t last forever. The declining sales of Final Fantasy games, following the utter mess that was Final Fantasy XIII, should indicate that. At this point, it’s tough to see a path back to relevance for Final Fantasy, if the caretakers of the series are spending their creative cycles thinking about the particulars of breast physics. That’s not why the Final Fantasy brand still carries the cachet that it does, and the modern games are at this point living entirely off an inherited reputation.

You had a good run, Final Fantasy, and it was nice knowin’ ya.

  • I thought people loved them some FFXII?

It got high review scores, but there are plenty of people who can't stand it. I personally think it's one of the weakest mainline games.

I'm expecting FF13-3 and A Realm Reborn to underperform which might weaken the brand even further. When are we expecting FF15? 2015?

FF had a bad generation thanks to the FFXIII-trilogy, FFXIV starting out crap, and lack of meaningful side games.  But, yeah, one bad console generation for the series doesn't kill it.  FFXIV is supposed to be pretty awesome now, FFXV looks hot, and who knows what's in the pipeline for the series after that.

What about Crisis Core and those Dissidia games?  They came out during this gen.  But I guess FF Type 0 was received poorly, ignoring money-hat Famitsu scores and the like?

Well, I mean he doesn't mention FFXII at all in that article.  I don't play these games but I don't see FFXII as being "downhill" for the series.  It was one of the few games that interested me enough to actually even try it.

Type-0 was not received poorly.

Crisis Core and Dissidia are decent side games. As is Theatrhythm which I really like.

The main issue isn't side games. The main problem is that FFXIII sucked and we've been stuck with it an entire generation if you don't want to play another FF mmo. Delayed production, forcing resources into a fucking mmo in the 2010's, FF Versus not coming out, horrible management all contributed to this. Kohler's logic of blaming "this FF is better than that one" is simplistic as it is wrong. S-E's problem is mostly a management and production issue.

By the metric that Japanese devs are leaning towards fanservice and easy/shallow gameplay, most of the Japanese games industry is dying, not just FF. It's just a sign of the times.

Of course, it's ok to complain about boobs in Final Fantasy, but turn a series like Fire Emblem into imbalanced/grindy waifufest and it sells huge numbers with critical acclaim.
