It's going to look good, and then be bugged, have balancing issues and a terrible netcode. ONLY IN BATTLEFIELD

Well, Nintendo at least found out how to get me interested in BR - remake old games into a BR format.
Fortnite I'd honestly be much more into if it didn't have the crafting/building component.

Play Battlefield 2042 starting October 22, 2021

Battlefield 2042 is a first-person shooter that marks the return to the iconic all-out warfare of the franchise. Adapt and overcome in a near-future world transformed by disorder. Squad up and bring a cutting-edge arsenal into dynamically-changing battlegrounds supporting 128 players*, unprecedented scale, and epic destruction.

No Campaign, no Battle Royale.

Good. Both have been a waste of dev resources.

I'm liking what I see so far, iffy about the specialists and natural disasters, but keen to see what June 13 brings.

people keep bringing this up over and over at work "i just want a good campaign"  :doge imo, it's so derpy to be asking for that in battlefield. the market is fucking saturated with strong singleplayer fps campaigns. i get that bad company 2 was good though and Dice should make another battlefield:bc spinoff, but that's a whole other thing

Check out Realm Royale- that's pretty much what it is... although I'm not sure if anyone plays it anymore.  :P

If you're also just looking for a decent multiplayer third-person shooter, give Rogue Company a try.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection

Have a bad feeling about this one, lol.  Probably better to get it on consoles but will see what user reviews say.  They couldn't even get the listing right on Steam-- It's listed three times, one for each game, despite being one collection, and I saw some comments saying that at least at one point there were different prices listed.

I dunno what Sigma 2 is doing there, but the other two make sense in that one is the deluxe pack and one is the regular edition.

...It's just that they listed Sigma 1 as the deluxe and Razor's Edge as the regular one.

One Steam review ain't bad:

Quote
PC Port:
The port has its pros and cons, but the bottom line is that it works. Across all three games, I never had issues with crashes, freezes, bugs, fps drops, or anything like that. Resolution-wise, all three can run at up to 4K and I ran each of them at 1440p with no issues. I think the 1440p support is just scaled down from 4K, but it looks great so I guess I can’t complain.

All three are also locked to 60 fps – perhaps my least favorite aspect of these ports. These are definitely games that could have benefited from an unlimited fps option, so it’s disappointing to see. At least the 60 is stable though, it’s far better than what we got on the original console versions. As for graphical options – there’s basically none. You get your in-game sliders for brightness and such, but no actual settings like anti-aliasing, resolution scaling, VSync, etc. This is pretty typical for a Koei Tecmo PC port, but again, disappointing to see.

Perhaps the laziest aspect of these ports would be the complete lack of any sort of keyboard and mouse controls. Although I can’t see myself using keyboard and mouse for a game like this personally – this is a PC game and you really need to have at least the bare minimum there for those that don’t have controllers.

I mean I won't lie, yes I have a bias as I don't like BR.

But unlike CoD where to me it makes sense to add a BR mode, BF just seems to run against what BR is about. It's about big combined arms conflicts. You know, big armies having big battles. Not savaging for resources. Not sitting around waiting for random dudes to walk past you. It shouldn't be slow paced.

I don't play many BRs, if any. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it could be done well. But I don't mind them focusing on what they think they do best in regards to this series.

Steam Stats:

PUBG Daily Peak - 349,818
APEX Legends - 234,364

BF V - 16,130

Yeah, great idea taking out the Battle Royal mode. Battle Royal with total destruction is the dream. CoD is killing it with Warzone. WTF is Dice thinking.

OK, got Ninja Gaiden MC on Steam and tried Sigma 1 briefly.  Tested it on my GPD Win 3 and it ran beautifully at 720P.  Solid 60 FPS.  The game, however, starts in a window and you have to make it fullscreen.  That review above says there's supposed to be a day one patch that fixes this.  Maybe tomorrow or maybe that's just bullshit.

And out of curiosity, I tried running the game with the controller off and it just flashed a "PLEASE CONNECT A CONTROLLER" message.  It almost feels like these games are being emulated or something- there are zero options for adjusting any of the visuals.  You really do have to go into the game properties, before playing it, and type in which resolution you want it to start at.   :lol

If you want an absolutely barebones port collection of both Sigmas and Razor's Edge, this is probably worth it for $35.  Seems solid for what you get.  Probably worth skipping if you have an XBox One X or Series X and Black/NG2.

Battlefield hasn't had a good campaign since the the Bad Company games.
Call of Duty fares a bit better, though personally even having played CoD4 etc, i don't think i really enjoyed one past CoD2's.
They're just too rigidly scripted and bombastic.
CoD WWII's campaign was a nightmare, like you were supposed to play it while on cocaine.

So yeah, this is obviously a good direction for BF, bring it back to what the franchise was born to be, and you have bots if you want to play without the stress of PvP anyway.
It should even have a coop+bots mode, if i understood correctly, so that you can just relax with your small circle of buddies.
Honestly sounds like the most interesting direction for the franchise in years.

1 Never had dismemberment at all, in any version (aside from beheading and arm cutting of some peculiar monsters, which is still in all ver.).
Sigma 2 removed the blood (and had some weird purple haze instead) and while it kept the dismemberment, it toned down how quick you cut off limbs (making enemies last longer) while reducing significantly the number of enemies on screen. It ended up playing more like 1, but wasn't very well balanced.
3 should have some blood and dismemberment, but it's not a major feature anymore, but i dunno 'cause i only played like 20 minutes of it back in the day.

The story follows the True Student Council, which was established to solve the abnormal situations in the school. The protagonist, who becomes the deputy head of the council, chooses a buddy from four characters to defy the unreasonable.

The main story has multiple endings. There are different routes for each of the four buddy characters. To make multiple playthroughs easier, you can also skip shared routes and advance through different buddy routes.

Battles are command-based with a free move turn system. Increasing your madness will allow you to use more powerful skills, but if you increase it too much, you will go insane and rampage against targets both friend and foe, making it impossible to fight.

There is also an “EGO” system, which represents the player’s desire levels of pride, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. These change depending on your diagnosis and the choices you make, and also affect the demons you can employ as your “underlings.”

Underlings’ appearances and voices can be customized.

$$$

They just do it to sell it or ransomware it. It's fucked up, especially since the hackers will always be one step ahead of any security measures so every company in the world can be hit at any time. But we live in a fucked up world so it's par for course.

Yeah, because those weren't just people trying to steal whatever they can to sell and make money for China/Russia/whoever.

Was fun when leaks were like actual people trying to get unfinished games/demos out to the public. Like I played the shit out of the Tony Hawk 1 leaked E3 demo which was Roswell.

I believe it had bits and pieces of Ravenholm as well. But it didn't have all the traps and the preacher yet.

As far as I remember you indeed started out at the docks with the crane and the car and not the slums of City 17.
The design of buildings and city also was based on US architecture and not Eastern Europe as in the final game.
There was a Canals map with skyscrapers.

Some bits and pieces (enemy types, weapons, story concepts etc.) cut were later used in EP1, EP2 and Alyx.
'Ship' was a very very early version of the Borealis so that mystery box was included also.

Half Life 2 originally seemed to have been a much bigger game than what we ended up playing.

My brother spend quite some time going through the code and using console commands to get to everything there was to see.
As a half life modder it was pretty easy for him to find ways to play more than just what you could progress through.

I mean the PS2 version has enhanced character models, and an exclusive co-op campaign. Though I think modders recreated that on PC.

What's the best way to play Half Life 1 without Steam? I never actually made it all the way through that one (though beat 2 and all the episodes)

You don't have any device that can run steam?

Black Mesa is the answer. Not sure if you can get it outside steam. Maybe the pirate way?

Well I have a laptop with decent specs but not a fan of Steam. Was hoping for something more drm free, I get why the game isn't on GOG but that's where I usually go for my PC games.
Worse comes to worse I can get one of those USB DVD readers and try and track down a big box copy of the game from the 90s. I have the Half Life Holiday 2006 collection but I think that might require Steam. Probably should just pirate at this point since I already "own" it.

If you want to be weird I guess you could play the near-final Dreamcast port that was cancelled at the last minute?

So those Switch Pro tweets got me to watch the Rabbids trailer expecting to see next-gen Switch Pro visuals.

It looks...like Switch graphics? I don't see anything in the gameplay trailer that looks any better than current switch games?

That's why they are clowns.

Those screenshots are always higher res (mostly because of print) and the 'better looking' footage was clearly a cinematic.

Just pirate it, it's probably super easy to find a good version. I mean, I'd try to argue you should just install Steam and activate that CD Key you already have and install it (and any of the expansions you want since they activate with those keys) off there, then once you're done just uninstall everything and go back to no-DRM life. But I understand principles.

Second best choice is probably the PS2 version. That's a "completed" version of the Dreamcast port.

It's been free before, but they put it back in the vault.
