Rangers starting pitcher this afternoon is a 30-year old dude who just spent two seasons in Japan.  :-\

And so far he's pitched better than our closer.

Juice, you have to admit, Desmond is pretty good for a rookie shortstop - at least when he's up to bat. Kid needs to practice his glove work, though.

Strasburg won his first game.

5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K

... It will be sweet when the front office calls him and Storen up, and when Wang, Zimmermann and Detwiler return from injuries. We might be able to beat other teams - and not just the Mets!

It'll be interesting to see who from the current rotation keeps their job. Olsen is a quality pitcher, as is Lannan. Marquis and Hernandez are veterans, but totally inconsistent pitchers best used as spot starters. I imagine one of the four SPs that will make the roster will be sent to the bullpen, and that someone else will be traded to make room.

Didn't need him today, 9-2 yeah! Ranger's starting pitching has been great so far, and finally they seem to be getting the bats going. Everything would be rolling along great if Fransisco could get his head on straight.

:rofl

Joe West and his officiating crew threw this game. I didn't expect us to win it, but we were ahead and these guys absolutely let the Phillies pile it on. If you're not going to call any of Marquis' strikes, then why don't you just put a pitching machine on the mound.

EDIT: This is made even funnier by the fact that West was the fat fuck complaining about the length of games. Maybe if your crew learned how to call strikes, the games wouldn't be so long. Just a though.

It obviously wasn't just me, considering Riggleman got ejected for the same complaint. Also, Morgan was just called out on a single that he beat. Joe West gave Marquis a ball that he didn't pitch!

Also, they've got a 3D pitch track on MASN that pretty much says the same thing.

I got ticked about calls during one Mets game, but the Nats didn't lose a game based on that. But here, they did. And it was APPARENT. From Pudge to Marquis to Riggleman. They all got into it. And again, who the fuck calls a ball before a pitch? Calling a safe baserunner out?

Hey, I have no illusions about contention, but - again - why are you going to cut the Phillies any breaks? That makes no sense. That said, if West and Co. were picking on Marquis because he came off the mound to talk to the ump, he should have been pulled when we had the lead and he was not getting the calls.

MASN crew: "This might be a game tape that should be overnighted to Park Avenue." :lol

I'm just pointing out that all ballclubs have rough times.

... Orioles dropped another game tonight, in front of the lowest recorded attendance in Camden Yards history. Makes me sad. I grew up an Orioles fan; Cal Ripken Jr. was my idol during my days in youth baseball. I remember how good that team was in the mid-'90s. That said, I won't step foot in Camden Yards until Peter Angelos is gone. I really hate that owner.

And since the Nationals arrived, not only is their ballpark easier to get to, the games are just much more enjoyable. I was raised on the AL East, but the NL is where all the good stuff happens. The AL is just a glorified home run derby.

Nats go home 4-5 for a ten game home stand. I'll take that. I believe we were 1-8 at this time last year. Yay for improvement.

Dunn and Zimmerman came alive today. Olsen was solid, glad the organization finally came to its senses.
