I never thought of it in those terms lol: introducing pop psychology to someone in dire straits, like in some poor country in Africa. Lots of religious nuttery in those places, but I never get the feeling they're particularly thrilled to be saved from future damnation

I had a friend that was obsess with this secret bullshit, he used to have his room full of sheets with "I'm gonna get a new video card" written on them all over his room, his mum got him a government job a couple of months after he watched this and he was convinced that it was thanks to the secret.
