The Hurt Locker, by a country mile. I dug Inglourious Basterds, but I felt Tarantino couldn't keep his dick in his pants - and ultimately it hurt the flick. Moon getting snubbed is ridiculous, especially since Avatar and District 9 got nods. I'd be happy if A Serious Man or Up in the Air won over Avatar, as well.

All in all, it is a pretty terrible nominee list. The inclusion of Precious, District 9, Avatar and Up is totally distinguished mentally-challenged. I would be fine with animation breaking the glass ceiling if it didn't have its own awards category, thereby informing all the other Best Animated Feature Film nominees that they have lost by default.

They're obviously trying to improve ratings by including more mainstream films in the nominees list. Especially, after the outcry by that Batards last year when Dark Knight wasn't nominated for Best Picture. I remember last year's telecast receiving poor rating. There was talk that snubbing The Dark Knight contributed to that.

I agree with The Hurt Locker. I still have to catch Moon, as I've heard great things.

Actually, I meant to say The Blind Side instead of Precious, but neither really belong on the Best Picture nominee list - especially The Blind Side, which is arguably worse than Avatar.

I think it's a sad day when the Best Picture nominee list looks like it might mirror the Best Movie nominee list for the MTV Movie Awards.

I would have been okay with it not being nominated, had the Academy not nominated The Blind Side, District 9, Avatar and Precious. That was just ridiculous. Looking forward to next year's Best Kiss Oscar.

I liked Up too, but it is one of the poorer Pixar movies and doesn't deserve the acclaim it gets. Rewarding their B- grade efforts makes it seem like the animated films are monopolized by Pixar.

Coraline is a technical achievement and I think it should win over Up, but rooting for it is rather stupid considering Up managed to secure a Best Picture nomination. Although, Coraline winning the Best Animated Feature award would be hysterical.

The good (possibly bad) news about Avatar is that SAG won't feel too much of a need to give it a pity oscar since Cameron of course also made Titanic. I know they're still going to make some disappointing picks though.

Up > Coraline in every way except technically.

Avatar should win in technical categories, but it was a pretty lousy movie in every other way. I mean, it was great! I was excited by it. But it's not very good in the way that a BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR should be good.

I'd be fine with animation being nominated for best picture if they did it in a year where we actually had an oscar worthy animated film. Coraline is awesome, but best picture...no. UP

Back in 1992 B&tB was an excellent film and it getting nominated for best picture gave it more prestige. The best animated feature category was a stupid category to begin with. They really should ditch it and just let animated films get normal nominations. If that category didn't exist, you'd be damn sure Spirited Away & Wall-E would've been best picture nominations.

Most boring Oscars ever, all the major categories are locks except for maaaaaaaybe Best Director where Bigelow could sneak out a win but I doubt it.

Best Actor: The Dude
Best Actress: Sandra Bullock

Best Supporting Actress: Monique
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz
