I remember playing L4D with some randoms on XBL and one girl was talking to another about having spent the previous weekend in jail for beating the hell out of some other girl from their school.  That was at least entertaining.

PC does gets its fair share of ragetards nowadays, since everything moved to voice chat.  It's a little more behaved than XBL, though.

While playing BC2, nobody except the folks at NeoGAF have mics. Dunno what you're playing but it's rare to find people with mics, and those that have them are either sitting far to close to their speakers, are eating stuff or have a terrible bluetooth mic (I make it a point to ask them what type of mic they have).

Playing MW2 mostly (Also dabble in Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2). The crazy thing is there were only 2-3 players a game (5 tops) with mics when the game first came out. But since late Jan - early February I have yet to be in a game with less than 4 people talking.

I actually went out and bought a mic 'cause of this.

The official socom one is nice but in general I hate the "hang on your ear" kind of headset and it constantly beeps when the mic is muted.  Nicest part is that it connects with the PS3 proper and shows stats on in the XMB like battery life, mic on/off, or HQ sound (whatever that is for).

The one I use most of the time is this logitech one

What's a good mic for the PS3?

Astro A40.  It also works with the 360 and PC.  Bought one about a week and a half ago and the thing is freakin' awesome.  The only problem is that it's 250 bucks, but you're getting quality.

sometimes it gets a bit creepy.  Yesterday some guy was on the mic and everyone in the server was hearing this guy talking with his family and it sounded like he wasn't all there.
