Random it uses the name but eh, Far Cry 2 did it and that made no sense, maybe it's in vogue these days. Caught my eye though because of the epic marketing.

You can order your party around ME2 style but with your character shouting at them instead of little pointers automagically showing up, and the sand messes with the environment making shit dynamic.
