Half Life 2 mods?
« on: March 13, 2010, 07:56:44 PM »
Taking a break from FF13 with HL2 and Mega Man 10. The lack of any options whatsoever is getting to me in that game.

Anyways, this is my first time playing HL2 on pc. I know, I know. I'm a scrub. I played it twice on xbox and played a partial bit on 360 when I had Orange Box. Now I've got the superior version and it looks a tad ugly. Also, I was expecting load times faster than this.

Friend suggested the synergy mod (free co-op mod) but I was curious if there were mods that handled the technical aspects of HL2.

Forgot how good this game is. One of my favorite games despite the fact I like to troll HL2 fantards.

you have the orange box right?

best single player mods are:
Minerva: Metastasis (think requires ep1)
Research and Development (requires ep2)

the only multiplayer mods that arent completely dead are:

insurgency (modern warfare?)
dystopia (cyberpunk)
empires (space shootan)

also what optimo said cause i skimmed your post

Research and Development is my favorite one.  It's all about puzzles and presentation.

Minerva is more Half Life 2 gameplay and the main draw is that the levels are designed first as believable environments (as opposed to a gameplay environment)

Mission Improbable is another nice one that is more HL2 gameplay.  Very short but great pacing and shoot outs.

there is a very good thread on gaf about HL2 mods and I suggest checking that out
