Just announced. You get the movie on BluRay and the only special feature is a menu, for $40.

They're going to milk this thing for all it's worth. There'll probably be a 3D Edition, a Special Edition, and a Special 3D Edition by the end of the year, then an Ultimate Edition whenever the sequel comes out.

Fox says no 3D edition until a market exists for it, and they specifically said no 3D in 2010 and likely not in 2011.

And seeing as how it's $150 for one pair of shutter glasses for the 3D TVs and 3D BRD players... it'll take a while for that market to exist.

I thought BRD prices were supposed to be going down. Forty fucking dollars for a movie is beyond insane.

Does this mean GS will only buy three copies of it now?

If Lucas had directed it, you'd buy 3 copies: one to watch, one to frame, and one to jerk off in. Dont lie.

Is that just the MSRP?

Because like 90 percent of the Blu Rays on Best Buy's website all say shit like

MSRP: $39.99
Your Price: $17.99

Except that studios have something called a MAP which is the minimum advertised price. FOX set the MAP on Avatar to $29.99.

So it's basically a Disney blu ray?  I don't see the outrage.  Don't buy the mediocre movie then.

I wanna buy a HDTV and they are already becoming obsolete? 3DTVs are all the rage now?

Not yet, but maybe in a few years when the tech isn't super expensive.

Also, people will have to convinced to sit on their couch and wear a huge pair of goggles, which probably won't be that easy.

Don't mind Mana.  He's waging a war on Cameron to protect Lucas' spot in the nerd hierarchy.

Wont there be a special 3D film that you put over your 3D TV allowing you to not have to wear glasses.
autostereoscopic (I think?) is still having problems because of viewing angles.

Luckily I have a blu-ray burner.  At this price, it makes more sense to buy a dual-layered BD and make a copy.  I might do it, just out of spite for the ludicrous pricing.

Except Disney gives you a lot more than the movie. Recent Pixar discs like Monsters Inc. and Up included two-disc BluRay, DVD, and a iTunes/Windows Media copy of the movie. Monsters Inc. had more features than the original two-disc DVD too.

But ZERO extras. The only extra on either disc is a menu. Fox isn't even giving a digital copy with it, and they do with most of their other DVDs.

Double dip in November.
