Ok I just read the Wiki. It's a decent story, I'm surprised, but holy fuck at how they chose to present it. If they opted for a less disconnected set of flashbacks and just unfold story in a normal way it would've been 10 times more effective and less boring.

I'm currently in chapter 10 and I can't believe what they expected me to gather from the story up until this point.

The story in RoF is actually found out by talking to the NPCs every chapter, lol

Yeah I won't defend the way they presented it.  It's really dick, but then a lot of times Tri-ace = being dicks.


And SO4 is 0/10 awful.  Don't touch that stuff.

I thought FF13 was really bad anime.

Honestly, I only like Suikoden, DQ, and SMT for story but...it gets harder and harder to swallow crappy jrpg stories in general.

Okay, I think I've got it figured out more less. Sort of. For the most part.   I beat Chapter 1 and cruised through most of the battles, but then I got crushed a couple of times by the lava boss. I finally beat him by lobbing grenades at him and having Zypher hide behind a wall, and then poke out and do a little scratch damage until he finally died. I guess my biggest problem is I'm not sure how to handle going into critical mode (other than avoid going into critical mode). Usually I just run away, but that doesn't work on the boss.

Yeah, critical mode = game over.  Just hit start and retry.

UNLESS (this is the ONLY WAY FOR IT TO NOT BE THE END):
-You have an enemy body party fully scratched nearby.  Then have a person shoot and break the body part to get your shards back and get you going.
-Thus sometimes if you know you're going into critical soon, you can full scratch a body part before you do and then shoot it after you go in to get out.

But usually it just means you lost, so man up and retry.

I reallycouldnt stand even an hour of this game.  People bitch about "brown" in fps games, this is a clear example of too much grey/brown in a game.

The statue escort mission is annoying as fuck. I keep getting wiped out by the bazooka dudes.

Yeah, only really hard part in the game.  I died a few times and raged.

What you need to do is 1. blow up the barrels to take groups out fast and 2. put someone in front of the statue so they take all the damage and the statue takes almost none.


There's no more escort missions in the game after it.
