Gamespot retracts review

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6251033.html

Earlier today, after being contacted by a member of the official Global Agenda forums, I made the difficult decision to remove the Global Agenda review that was posted yesterday. The review undoubtedly made some valid points, but after learning that it was written after only six hours of play (not including time spent in the game's hub area), having it criticize the "first dozen hours or so" and comment that it takes "10 to 15 hours" to unlock more varied and enjoyable content was clearly unacceptable. A replacement review from a different reviewer will be in the works shortly, and because it seems that the game's subscribers-only "Conquest" gameplay isn't quickly accessible, I suspect it will be at least a couple of weeks before it appears on the site.

I don't know anything about Global Agenda but I found this news pretty interesting.  It confirms what many people have accused game reviewers of doing.  I've always thought those people were just being paranoid but I guess they were right.

Earlier today, after being contacted by a member of the official Evilbore forums, I made the difficult decision to remove the Global Agenda thread that was posted just ten minutes ago. The thread undoubtedly made some valid points, but after learning that it was written after only six hours of carelessly reading the forum (not including time spent in the forum's hub area), having it duplicate the content in another thread was clearly unacceptable. A thread lock will be in the works shortly and I suspect it will be at least a couple of weeks before SG makes another dumb thread.

The old thread was cool because you had actual EBers talk about how they'd written reviews for games they'd never played. :lol

"Gaming journalism" is such a joke.

I bought Daikatana 64 thanks to the old thread. Going by my account this new thread is waaaaaay better.

Wha-why? Were you the only person in the world before that thread who wasn't fully aware of the shitheap that is Daikatana?

Also the game in question, by all accounts, sucks balls no matter how many hours you put into it.

Oh, I knew full well just how bad Daikatana was. I played a little of the PC game and read Willco's post about it. I thought I was prepared!

Lord oh LORD did that game's shittiness blow right past my expectations. It's easily the worst game I currently own.
