King's bounty the legend is awesome
« on: March 22, 2010, 07:31:47 AM »
i've been raving on this on the "what are you playing thread" so i hope making this thread doesn't bother anyone... but anyway! this game is awesome! it's like i'm back in 1998 again when i was playing stuff like dungeon keeper 2 and heroes of might & magic! there is just so much stuff to do and see and the game has always something there to kick your ass to reminds you that you need to become more stronger so basicaly it tickles all my rpg whore bones (no no wait it's missing the loot but well you can't be perfect i guess) currently i'm off sailing some pirate island fighting pirates (actualy one of the sidequest involved becoming a pirate by killing a ghost) and getting treasure maps, also i'm going to fight a giant squid

GO IMMEDIATELY TO IRON PRINCESS, DO NOT CROSS KING'S BOUNTY (Seriously. KB is fucking awesome, but IP is KB with everything that was wrong about it fixed)

anyway so i finished my trip on pirate island and returned to the first island, while i was there i decided to clear some quest that were too hard first time around, there was this old coot who was holed in a tower who said that he made some ultrapowerfull staff and he needed help,so i enter the tower and i blaze trough the first few encounter (who simply were too hard when i first found the tower) then the game thrown even more baddies at me but they are still easy stuff, then i have to kick the ass of the staff! THAT'S RIGHT! SHOWDOWN WITH A CURSED STAFF! the staff brought like a gazillions of priests but most important it had evil gremlin who could cast chain lighting which hurt like hell! the fight was long and at least half of my unit were dead but the staff was defeated! i tought the game would let me keep the awesome staff but alas i was wrong! the sadness didn't last much tough, the fight gave me enough experience to get to level 12 which gave me another leadership boost (now i'm up to 7000 leadership) and the old wizard sold me an helm (finaly might i add since i was still wearing the lame bowl from the tutorial!) that gave me extra defense and another 400 leadership bonus (so total 7400 leadership) it also seems that the helm is part of a set and the whole set would let me recruit more basic unit

did i mention this game is awesome?

A lot of early enemies you recruit have better abilities that make them more useful and less cannon fodder. The game is more balanced- There's more to do early on and less opprotunity to gimp yourself. The difficulty curve is slightly saner, although it's a harder game overall. It's just better thought out- The few things that bugged me about KB (Like a lot of enemies not having any abilities at all) really got fixed. It's an extra coat of polish on an already A++ title. It's more or less the same game, just refined. I'm not sure if you'll KB'ed out by the end of KB, which is why I advise skipping ahead. Same experience, just better.

mmm i see
well anyway i'm slightly pissed off,i tought i would need to clear a story quest to activate the spirits of rage but it turns out all i had to do was asking them so i missed a shitload of experience for them >:(
i now unlocked the first and from my understanding all it takes to unlock the second is a trip to the swamp

i've been having some problem keeping my units,i have like 240K gold but most of the stores i used simply run out of guys for me to recruit,it's not really a problem because i can recruit an infinite number of swordsmen and archers and there is like a gazillion of places where i can buy archmages... i've hired giants for my 4th spot,i can use only 5 of them but they are basicaly impossible to kill and their special skill is awesome and hurts everything on the map (which coupled with the fact that i can now use the swamp rage spirits which can also attack all.and i can rain fireball upon the enemies make for an awesome opening) but my 5th spot is hurting... maybe i'll hire some bears

anyway i'm off clearing the last few sidequest and then i'm off to dwarf land! maybe i'll do an all dwarf army... i heard you get a morale bonus and i'm already using two dwarf unit, plus i have a hammer that gives a +3 attack bonus to dwarfes

well i've reached the land of the elves but i've decided that at this point the game just doesn't have any decent surprise to throw at me so i'm jumping to armored princess

is it from my understanding that i'm not that far from the ending so maybe i should continue?

I think you've still got a good bit to go-did you get through the Hell area yet?

I'll throw no rocks at someone not finishing KB:TL since it's a long game, but you really should youtube the WTF ending that would make even the most diehard of gamers pause.

for hell area do you mean the area with demons inside the dwarf zone? i decided to leave it for later since the encounters were pretty tough

uuuhhh i'm sorry for bumping this thread again but i've reached some evil undead general ksomething and he kicks my ass so hard,it boogles my mind... with my current army it would be hard to take his troops alone, then you factor in that he gives off huge bonuses and that he keeps casting necro call making all my punching work useless in the first place and i don't have the slighest clue about how i'm supposed to fight this guy
any help would be appreciated,i'm level 21 (almost 22) and using archmages, swordsmen, horsemen, elfs and ents, leadership around 14000
