fuck yo manga nicca. Watching Lain, on Viz's recommendation, and it's pretty fucking fly. Only seen two episodes, but thus far it's really cool. I especially like how they aren't scared to go long stretches without dialog.

After you finish up Lain, watch some Kino's Journey. It's by the same director.

Finished Lain. It offended me that they started talking more, but over-all it wasn't time wasted. There were a lot of cool visual elements, like the splotches in the shadows and constant humming of power-lines reminding you that TEH WEB is everywhere and always on, etc. The typography and graphic design is horrendously dated, sadly, but it's still serves it's purpose, although they should have gone with something a little less "nineties".

Mainly though, the talking. The motherfucking talking. And it was school girls doing it too. can't get worse than that, no wait, it can - and did - when they introduced this god fellow, who needed to rattle of speech after speech about this and that and obviously he needed to be killed. You can't have a god character in some animu without him being defied and subsequently killed, obviously. :|

I'm kinda making a mountain out of a mole hill, but if the dialog had been better this show would have been excellent. The story got kinda convoluted as a side-effect of all the nonsensical blabbering, but the core story and narrative - and all the themes that pertained to it, came across just fine and were interesting enough. Had this aired on Liquid Television back in the day I would probably have some serious nostalgia for it.

Looking into Kino's Journey, but I'm also wanting to get into House of Five Leaves and K-On (/suicides)

WHAT ARE GOOD ANIMUS IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS

NO I STILL HAVE NOT WATCHED DURARARARARRARARARARARARRRRRRRR

NOTE: I HAVE ELECTIVE TASTES BUT I ONLY WATCH STUFF THAT IS GOOD, SO IF IT'S GOOD AND NOT BAD, SUGGEST IT. IF IT'S GREAT, EVEN BETTER.

IF JUNPEI, VIZ, OR MCD SUGGEST ANYTHING SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK AND SEE IF WHAT THEY'RE SUGGESTING IS BAD BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO FALL INTO A TRAP.

THANK YOU, AND YES I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD, AND HOUSE OF LEAVES IS ON MY LIST TOO

No it's not. It's overwhelming. You have 30 things to look at on screen at once, forcing you to pause every second for a full minute. Not relaxing, not comfy.

all of the text in the background is useless and it's there just for wackiness factor,if you skip it you aren't missing much so there's no reason to pause every second for a full minute

himu i haven't watched any recent animu yet so can't recommend.

however, still waiting for darker than black season 2 ovas, major season 6, durarara and giant killing to end so i can marathon them.

actually, i watched moryu no hako like a month ago and it was beyond awesome, watch that if you can handle extreme japanese literature.

The anime is about:

"It will be a side story set in a.t.b.2017 in the European warfront, where a unit made of boys and girls from Zone Eleven is sent into a military operation with a 5% chance of survival to rescue an allied unit left behind."

That manga is canon though, if you feel you don't want to miss out of any good ol Code Geassness.

I doubt it since it should be the season 3 of sorts and i dont think all of Roberta's Escapades will fit in one EP (will have to watch and see where it ends).

Plus it says Episode 1 so there should be more

K-on season 2 is kind of unbearable.  I finished the first season fairly quickly.  Compared to that I've watched 3 episodes of the second season in the past month and trying to couldn't find enough interest to finish the fourth episode.  it went ascended super uguu.

If a brother such as myself was to get into anime, what would you suggest

I know I never post here and don't watch as much anime as the rest, but Kon and Miyazaki stuff has been reliable for me. Paprika is partially satire of the whole culture, but you don't really need to know Japanese culture inside and out to enjoy it. I am not sure I qualify as an anime fan, but I would say I am a fan of those two just as makers of film/television.

Ok, so a few months back I watched Kara no Kyokai ep1 because someone here recommended it.  Thought ep1 was really bad and a waste of a time and stopped watching.  Then recently someone told me the reaction I had was the normal one and ep1 sucks but ep2+ is great.  So I watched ep2 and 3 tonight.  Show is pretty good.  The best thing I can say about it, is that it's one of the few hour long series that actually makes use of it's running length.  Most hour long anime feel like two or three 20 min eps sewn together in terms of pacing.

The only thing I don't like is how the show leaves stuff vague and slowly teases in info in order to keep the viewer watching instead of, you know, keeping them watching because the episodes are good.  The way ep2 ends and then suddenly ep3 is 2-3 years later (uh, the main guy looks WAY OLDER for only being 3 years older...) with no explanation of what happened is pretty lame.  I know the last ep of the show is the 2nd half of ep2 and will explain things, but then you find out and the show is over :X  Would have rather it it just went chronologically in time.

Will watch ep4-7 in the next day or two.

Gantz didn't look bad at all for a live-action Japanese film.

Oh, the Evangelion 2.22 HK Blu-ray has a separate English subtitle track. If you'd rather not wait a year or so for Funimation to get around to releasing it, Play Asia and Yes Asia have it for sale.

I thought about importing, but it's going to be like a bajillion years before 3 and 4 get released, so it's like the faster you get 2.22, the longer you get to wait for the next ones.  :-\
