Funimation picks up Trigun movie, Darker than Black season 2, Black Lagoon OVA, and others:

Very nice haul for Funimation.  :rock Black Lagoon bitches :rock

Hope it works out for them

Funimation seems to be doing pretty well, they've picked up a lot of shows recently, including cast-offs from other companies.

Tezuka is the master.

Read Adolph, Black Jack, MW, Apollo's Song, and Buddha.

Might as throw in some gekiga.

Tatami Galaxy final ep was a great end to a great show.  Definitely the show of 2010.

I've always like Yuasa's stuff, but it's often been too arty and too incomprehensible for its own good (Kemonozume, Kaiba, Mind Game).  Dialing it down a bit and doing something more mainstream and fun worked wonders.  Really likeable show from start to finish.  Funny and charming, with stylish art and good animation, two thumbs up.

Hope they bring it out in the US.  Would be nice to own this on bluray.

funi's site has commercials.  I watched some of the boring FMA B eps on their site and the ads were annoying.  Why can't they just put the ads on the website while you are watching.  I'd be ok with watching SD stuff and supporting commercial anime if it didn't have the ads 2-3 times an ep.

highschool of the dead is pretty good

bit heavy on the panty and breasts shots, though.  it is funny when all the zombies go for the breasts instead of the head or something else.

next episode seems like it will be about the random kendo girl you know will fuck zombies up :rock

The HoTD manga artist does (did?) a lot of hentai manga before he went mainstream.

Did the manga series ever finish up?  Last time I checked it was on hiatus and he'd released some new comic instead.

EDIT: Two acts released in the past year.

Here's English-translated scans of High School Of The Dead:

And here's Inazuma's other manga, Triage X:

Will check out the show since a lot of people like it, but breast/panty shots can make anime unwatchable for me.  I like my anime without fanservice, thank you.

Finished up FMA Brotherhood.  The last 15 eps of the anime are definitely superior to the same portion of the manga.  Much better action & dramatic effect.  The manga still destroys the anime until that point since the anime skipped a lot of stuff early on and both manga/anime are equally boring during the Briggs arc.  Have no idea what they are going to do with the upcoming movie.  Curiously looking forward to it.

I don't like fanservice because it never fits in the show.  It's like showshowshow, hey look boobs, showshowshow, hey look panties, showshowshow.  It ruins the pacing, it distracts you from the actual content of the show, and it's childish and immature.

Boobs are fun, nothing wrong with putting them in a show/movie.  But Japan just does it wrong.

Take a look at 80s horror films.  There's always the gratuitous nudity.  But they work it into the scenes and don't FOCUS on it.  You'll have a shower scene with a killer sneaking up to attack and it'll show the girl getting out of the shower naked.  But unlike Japan the camera doesn't ZOOM IN ON HER BOOBS and make BOUNCE BOUNCE noise.  Japan & fanservice & subtle are words that have never met.  Although the more legitimate animation directors do it right.  Jin-Roh has nudity, as does Ghost in the Shell, but it's handled more akin to how naked women fanservice is handled outside of Japan.  But your average TV show director just cares about the BOUNCE BOUNCE scenes because apparently that's what the creepy otaku audience wants to watch.

Nah.  It wasn't always like that, and even now there are series that are not filled with fan service.  Even ones you might expect, like B Gata H Kei, don't really have much in the way of fan service at all.

I can certainly understand not wanting to be bogged down by immature titty and ass shots galore, but then you also have people dismissing some fun series and not giving them a chance because of they have a bit of that stuff.  I don't follow One Piece much, but I have seen plenty of giant tits in that series, some fan service, and one of the movies even made Nami and Robin's chests rather huge and had them bouncing all over the fucking place.

Ghost In The Shell had scenes of the Major lezzing out.  Pretty graphic stuff.  But I guess you mean that first movie adaption.

Anyway, I haven't watched the anime version yet (have two versions downloaded and ready to go), but High School of The Dead has large bouncing breasts and panty shots galore.  It is entirely fan service, but caters to the zombie/gore/girls fan service genres.  It's a mix of all three.

Watched all of Working!!, was great.

Reminded me of Zetsubo sensei where everyone has a weird personality quirk and the antics that ensue.

Its cool the MC is sticking around to help the girl with her problem although it does look like a master training a pet which comes off as both messed up and funny.

And the first thing i thought when i saw the head chef was "Sanji is in this anime".

Getting HOTD currently (fuck you ip blocker, fuck you  :maf) will check it out when its done

I agree with Bebpo on all this stuff

but in hotd I thought it was kinda funny at times in a preposterous way.  The introduction to one character is her using her own breasts as pillows.  When a zombie is going after a female character, there is a point of view shot of it looking at her breasts.  I'd prefer none of that, but as far as creepy fanservice goes, it is at least shameless and without purpose.

edit: I said at times twice

Yeah, none of what I said is directed towards Highschool of the Dead since I haven't watched ep1 yet.
