Just watched Asobi Ni Iku Yo, and uh, wow...not what I expected.

I didn't know what it was at all going in; depending on images you see, it might look like a typical harem animu with a big-tittied cat girl

, or it might look like a serious sci-fi show with mercenary groups and secrets everywhere.
And you'd be right on both. The first few minutes is absolutely NOTHING like the next few minutes that follows. I give it negative points for having all the main characters introduced (besides the "typical Japanese male" protagonist) be various stereotypical anime females, and the cat-girl is fan-sabisuuuuu everywhere, but the show is really about (what appears to be) an innocent, fun-loving alien girl who comes to earth to "play," and all these people wanting to get to her and/or take her out. The male character seems to be the only normal character; everyone else is not who they seem, and it's serious--

Lots of mercenary/killer types. The last girl introduced is a fucking psycho.
It was kinda interesting in that sense.
All of the characters in High School of the Dead are basically anime archetypes, but the otaku guy is probably one of the most awesome anime characters I've seen in a long time.
He gets even more awesome as the series goes on.

Just about everyone will become a cold, calculating-zombie killa pro further in.
