Despite its popularity and the success of Azumanga Daioh, no plans have been announced for an anime adaptation of Yotsuba&!. In an entry posted on his website on 15 May 2005, Azuma said there were no plans for it to be animated;[32] he reiterated this 5 December 2008, claiming that the stories and style of Yotsuba&! are not well-suited for animation.[33]

I actually think it's cool that as a creator he thinks this particular story was created for a certain medium and doesn't want to see it converted to a different one.  Kind of like Bill Watterson with Calvin & Hobbes.

Personally I think it's cool when an artist has integrity.  BTW, the composer for Azumanga Daioh DID make an original soundtrack for Yotsuba.  You're supposed to buy it and listen to it while you read the manga. :lol

highschool of the dead has boing boing sounds when one character is walking around...wow

correction: two different boing sounds; one for the rear, one for the breasts.   :japancry

now they ripped her skirt

This show is so bizarre.  One minute it is action where a kendo lady is smashing in heads and shit, then it is random pantie and breast shots, then it tries to have drama and crying shit.

I guess this pink haired girl is supposed to be the tsundere one. yeah, ok.  her and Rei are boring.  The show needs to be about kendo lady and fat nerd just killing zombies.

My copy of the Evangelion 2.22 Blu-ray arrived today, it's so incredibly different from the TV series. Anyone know who did Kaji's English voice? Was it Yamadera?

All of the characters in High School of the Dead are basically anime archetypes, but the otaku guy is probably one of the most awesome anime characters I've seen in a long time.

Just watched Asobi Ni Iku Yo, and uh, wow...not what I expected.   :lol  I didn't know what it was at all going in; depending on images you see, it might look like a typical harem animu with a big-tittied cat girl :uguu, or it might look like a serious sci-fi show with mercenary groups and secrets everywhere.

And you'd be right on both.  The first few minutes is absolutely NOTHING like the next few minutes that follows.  I give it negative points for having all the main characters introduced (besides the "typical Japanese male" protagonist) be various stereotypical anime females, and the cat-girl is fan-sabisuuuuu everywhere, but the show is really about (what appears to be) an innocent, fun-loving alien girl who comes to earth to "play," and all these people wanting to get to her and/or take her out.  The male character seems to be the only normal character; everyone else is not who they seem, and it's serious--

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Lots of mercenary/killer types.  The last girl introduced is a fucking psycho.

It was kinda interesting in that sense.

All of the characters in High School of the Dead are basically anime archetypes, but the otaku guy is probably one of the most awesome anime characters I've seen in a long time.

He gets even more awesome as the series goes on.  :D

Just about everyone will become a cold, calculating-zombie killa pro further in.

K-on!! new OP/ED are both very middlegroundish
which is an improvement from the really bad OP1 and a step back from the good ED1 :X

And all the EDs keep reinforcing is that there neeeeeds to be a sequel where they are grown up in college and are actually making a career out of being a live band.  More like Beck and less like MOE.  There's been all these anime about college age or older guy bands but there really hasn't been any female bands.  K-on is a nice start, but there's not enough focus on the music (or none at all in S2 ;_;)

It's a good show with great art, great music, and a nice setting.
Story is the weakest part of it.  Very much slice of life with a little bit about the world.  Worth watching, but don't expect a Paranoia Agent tale out of it :P

It was only like 16000 yen, so it's not a ridiculous price for a 13 episode series or anything.
Actually cheaper than when I ordered the full series of Escaflowne from the US all those years ago.

Started watching Durarara since I don't have anything on my plate now besides weekly K-On!! ep of no music why am I still watching this show.  I remember durararara ep1 being kind ehhh back when it aired, but ep2 was good stuff!  Getting that Baccano vibe already.  Excited to watch the rest.

Which group is good?  I see [ec] and [anco^2] and a few others.

Yeah, I spent like 50000 for Fullmetal Alchemist and around 70000 for Eureka Seven back in the day on R2 dvd.  To be fair those were 50ep shows though and I was way more into anime than I am now.

These days I'll wait for US $50 boxsets unless it's Gundam and then I spend $180 for 6 eps :X

:wtf

I dunno, that's pretty reasonable compared to most anime prices these days ???

16,000 yen for 13 episodes?  Are you kidding me?  I can't believe Bebpo shelled out that much for his stuff, too.  That is absolutely insane.  I remember when those Dragon Ball Z box sets came out...the 13-movie set was like 50,000 yen.  One DVD with 3 episodes was 7000 yen.   :lol

Japanese anime prices are crazy.  And they wonder why people are so quick to pirate the stuff.

I got a 26-episode TV series on blu-ray in the States for $40 last year.  And I just ordered another blu-ray set with 26 episodes for $22.99 on sale.

Hell, media prices in general are too high over there.  I'd usually avoid buying new DVD/blu-ray releases and wait a while for them to be re-released at "budget" prices; I.E. the same price they cost new back home.  And don't even get me started on the RIDICULOUS blu-ray/DVD rip-off combo packs...one anime movie would cost like 1man, because you had to buy the damn DVD with it too.  I see that practice is now worldwide.  They do it here in the States now, too, but the prices aren't so jacked-up.  Do people REALLY need a blu-ray PLUS a DVD PLUS a digital copy of the same film?

mangatoshokan has purged a LOT of stuff due to legal issues and they were my go to site.

I was going to read a few chapters of Naruto before bed and find they've deleted a bunch of stuff due to legal issues.

Why are companies getting on manga reader sites now? They've been popular for YEARS.

I would LOVE for companies to offer a legit manga reader site online. Shit, let us even dl them. The convenience is SO GOOD. Instead of shutting these guys down, these companies should probably buy these sites and invest on the idea, because they're popular for a reason. I would PAY a monthly/annual fee for a 100% legit online manga site with hi res images that I can browse online and even on an ipad (which I will get in the future). It would be awesome, but these companies are so behind the digital times.

This is the same issue everyone has with everything.

But there's been some movements in that direction recently, these purgers are probably actually the precursor to what you're wishing for. They're getting them out of the way to make way for their own sites. Or not.

I haven't checked out any ep1s.  Everything looks trash.

Also the guy who directed Kurenai and other awesome shows is stuck directing GUNPLA THE ANIME along with Sunrise staff and Kuroda Yousuka writing :(
To think if this crew actually did a real Gundam it might have been good!
