-Yoshinari did conceptual design, Nishigori did the finalized character design.
-The cartoony style was chosen to allow for super-violent and stylish action sequence without losing some sort of twisted cuteness.
-The whole Gurren-Lagann animation team is involved: Sushio, Chikashi Kubota, Akira Amemiya, Tadashi Hiramatsu, Shouko Nakamura, Takashi Mukouda...
-Yoh Yoshinari is trying too do as many big action sequences as he can.
-Even if action sequences are the main dish, there is some sort of story going on in the background, as well. Panty & Stocking are supposed to be "angels", but they have problems with the bosses at "Heaven". Panty & Stocking's "Heaven" is a "blissful and peaceful" place filled with politeness, rules and pretending. Panty & Stocking are characters are extremely honest and don't go around "pretending" just for politeness: if Panty thinks someone is hot, she won't go around bullshiting her way by claiming she likes him for his personality and will just tell him that she wants to fuck him; if Stocking thinks someone is being annoying, she won't quietly ignore it, she will make sure, usually by force, that whoever is being annoying stops being annoying. Why hasn't "Heaven" gotten rid of them? Because they're some of the strongest angels around and they need them to fight against the monsters called "Ghosts" that "Hell" is sending to terrorize Earth.
-They managed to get a broadcaster that promised them to let them do whatever they wanted with no censorship whatsoever. The show will begin its run in October 2010.

If you'd read the manga, you'd know that's far from the case.

Edit: I'm more upset that nearly a third of the episode was recap.  :yuck

Ayakashi Ayashi OAV

This show was so weird.  You can tell there was the show they wanted to make, and then the show that actually got made and they are not the same thing.  The show goes to extreme lengths to be an incredibly realistic political period piece of the Tenpou period of the Edo era.  At it's core it's about anti-western fears, power struggle government conflicts, and even the tenpou reforms.  The show is full of WALLS OF TEXT talking about "and this is when X real world event happened" and the pace is very slow boring period drama.  The characters are very realistic, in that instead of going with their GREAT JUSTICE and doing what's right, procedure reigns above all and they'll only do what they can with permission of their superiors and will die for absolutely pointless reasons if that is what the law of the land suggests.  Watching the characters not do what they should because procedurally they cannot legal is frustrating, but realistic.

So they go all this length to make a realistic slow period drama....and then they throw in a layer of GODZILLA FIGHTS and monster of the week and stupid MONSTER FIGHTING GLOVES and all of this is just really dumb.  Some of the supernatural principals in the show that tie into Japanese superstition and religion of the time is good and works in the context.  But the Inuyasha style monster fighting is really terrible and the show is never able to gel the two sides of the story together and you just get a slow realistic drama with unrealistic goofy monster of the week.

And the music was not very good :X

Shame.  Great action scene in the last ep by Bones best animator Yutaka Nakamura though.

I'm watching Angel Beats and it's a weird fucking show.

Part goofy highschool hijinx; comedy, romance, silly situations
Part horrible horrrrrrrible gruesome violence (offscreen, but still pretty disturbing when you think about it!)
Part horrible fucked backstories
Part Haibane Renmei's philosophical questioning of what's beyond death and what's god

With slight changes to tone, it'd be a completely different show.

Definitely interesting and entertaining enough to keep watching.

Angel Beats was a pretty refreshing show, all things considered. There was so moments scattered around that were really stupid, but overall it was enjoyable and nice to see a show that doesn't just fill in the blanks with swapped out nouns and verbs like 99% of the shows out there.

Guys, I've got all of Full Metal Panic ready to watch, but what's the best order to watch the sequel series in?  Fumoff came before The Second Raid, but it's a comedy-focused series and TSR is the direct sequel to the original.  So which one first?

Step 1 - Watch Fumoffu
Step 2 - Don't bother with the original and Second Raid
Step 3 - Repeat Step 1

FMPF does not feature robots.

The best parts of FMP are the parts with Sagara involved with school life. The robot parts were ugh. Now, FMPF, being that it's nothing but school life and shenanigans makes it lol

It's pretty hard to be more wrong than this.

Also, to answer the original question, watch the original series then TSR then Fumoffu. Fumoffu comes last because after you watch it, it'll be really hard to take either of the other two seasons seriously.

I'm the OP of this thread, you dumb dwarf. :lol

And yeah, I can't contribute as much to the discussion as the rest of you, since unlike you I actually don't pirate shit and only discuss what I watch and read legitimately.  For example, that Full Metal Panic stuff that you pirated and are now recommending other people pirate, I actually bought legitimately, including Fumoffu.
