i still don't see what was interesting about this.
I guess the liitle kid pissed me off.
It's a lot of things. It's a simple story about an average colony, an average boy, average soldiers, etc. during the war partly toward through the perspective of a blissfully ignorant kid. I think it is great on its own, but really shines when you think about it after watching all the more action or military based shows.
And the mech battles are gorgeous. There is an amazing sense of scale about the machines. The amount of power and destruction and a single one causes by accident. It's incredible how there are one on one battles that have so much more going on than the stupid ass beam spam horseshit that some Gundam series get into it. And the build up to the battles is fantastic. You see everything slowly put together, sometimes literally like with the Kämpfer, and the attention to detail when the action finally happens it is just so good.
Plus it has Gundam Alex

Definitely my favorite Gundam.
oh man, and the final stand off. Bernie knows he is going to die but he wants to protect Al. Christina aims for the cockpit to kill the pilot, Bernie aims for the head to disable the Gundam.
