Darker than BLACK – Shikkoku no Hana #28

We really need OVA/Manga/Movie/Whatever for the Heaven's Gate war in South America.

Not sure where this chapter is going but it better mean we see more Abigail, DAMMIT!

You and junpei need to let me know when this ends.  Will definitely read it to get some more DtB before the next season.
Sure.
Just read now at Animesuki that it ends at chapter 33. So it's just a matter of time till we get the remaining chapters scanlated.

btw, that new Bones mecha series is actually going to be a 6 part movie like Kara no Kyoukai (aka, OAV released in theaters)

Means it's going to be forever until we get to see it :(

I don't have a problem with this.

By the way, that Break Blade series of anime movies is taking less than a year to get six entries.

Level E also has the best opening
(video is mirrored for some reason)

I wonder if it reflects the tone it takes later on, which is just as awesome.

Togashi inspires awesomeness.  A real hero of anime/manga.

haha, my favorite OP/EDs this season are

Wandering Son ED

Fractacle ED

Gosick ED

Madoka OP

Madoka ED (just ok, but been a while since Yuki Kajiura was doing anime songs)

and of course Star Driver OP2 for the aweeeesome Nakamura fight animation in the middle and the Gurren Lagann mecha at the end!

also I think the OP for Gosick looks really really cool but the song is zzzzz

Now that I think about it, this season is pretty good for OP/EDs

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-01-25/funimation-sues-1337-bittorrent-users-over-one-piece

Quote
The North American anime distributor Funimation filed a copyright infringement complaint against 1,337 "John Does" over the 481st episode of the One Piece television anime on Monday. According to the suit filed in the Northern District of Texas, the unidentified defendants "collectively participated, via the Internet, in the unlawful reproduction and distribution" of the episode "Ace Rescued! Whitebeard's Final Order!" via the BitTorrent file-sharing protocol. The suit lists defendants by their host IP (Internet Protocol) addresses and Internet service provider. The alleged incidents of copyright infringement took place between January 9 and January 12.

The lawsuit identifies three of the sites where the defendants allegedly found the BitTorrent reference descriptor files for the One Piece episode. The suit also notes that users in a BitTorrent "swarm," by the inherent nature of the technology, are simultaneously downloading parts of the file and distributing parts of it to others. Funimation believes that the identities of the current 1,337 defendants and "additional infringing parties" will be revealed during the pre-trial discovery phase of the lawsuit, and it will then amend the suit to include their names.

Funimation asks the court to stop the defendants from infringing on Funimation's copyrights for this episode and any other videos now or in the future. If another request in the suit is granted, defendants "shall destroy all copies of Plaintiff's [videos] that Defendant has downloaded onto any computer hard drive or server without Plaintiff's authorization and shall destroy all copies of those downloaded [videos] transferred onto any physical medium or device in each Defendant's possession, custody, or control." Funimation also seeks compensation for damages and legal costs.

ANN is awaiting Funimation's response to a request for comment.

Hmmmmm, this could be the end of all fansubs.

But, I don't think its this easy.  Otherwise record labels instead of suing 1 person at a time, they'd just file a suit against a million people who downloaded the latest top10 artist's song on the torrent.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

I will buy all the Gundam Unicorn blu-ray when they're in a package or all released.  I only own the first at this point.

I have no problem with buying anime; I'm ordered FLCL on blu-ray and I own both DVD sets of it.  The Gundam Unicorn stuff is just a bit too pricey for what it is.

I know there isn't a lot of Jump talk here and it's nothing new, but I have to say one thing:  The current Naruto manga is the most boring and pointless arc ever.

It is tactically awful.  What you have are fights between
spoiler (click to show/hide)
D-rate characters and zombies.  The two main characters, Naruto and Sasuke, are just off chilling or training.  The other characters are doing nothing important.  The big bad character Madara is completely absent and Kabuto is just controlling the zombies.

The best part? they keep summoning more zombies and F-rate characters! Bleach at its worse was better than this.

Man, Madoka is like the best take on mahou shoujo in a while.   The tone is really different from past shinbo stuff.  Much darker and very little comic relief.  It's like David Lynch presents Sailor Moon, lol.  Ep4 was sooo Persona 4.

Himuro, you should watch Madoka since you like Megaten style.

Fractale 3 & Wandering Son 3 were excellent as well.
This is seriously the best season of anime in years.

Everyone in this thread (and everyone who gave up on anime all together years ago) should watch Madoka Magika, Fractale, and Wandering Son every Thursday.  It's 90 mins of the best modern anime has to offer and it will restore your faith in the medium.  These are three very different shows and all three are done quite well.

I think it's because they're trying to emulate the way Japanese sounds, but failing badly because it isn't really possible to do. 80's and early 90's dubs were pretty bad, but they at least sounded like actually people saying the lines [instead of squeaky-voiced stereotypical anime characters]. Just my take on the situation though.

Finally decided to pull out my Darker than Black season 1 box set that I've had since last summer now that I'm trapped in my own house because of Snowpocalypse 2011. I'm up to episode 15 so far and I really like this show. It's not the best thing ever, but it's just the sort of anime like there ought to be more of. Action, a touch of lightheartedness with a lot of seriousness, a scifi story that doesn't cram too much explanation into too little time, and pretty much none of the sort of things that make me irritated when I watch modern anime. Darker than Black sort of feels like a mesh of Cowboy Bebop and Witch Hunter Robin, maybe a little Batman as well [:bow Chinese Electric Batman :bow2], which is a combination that can't go wrong. I would say that, approximately halfway through the show, that it's not quite great, but it's definitely within arm's reach of great.

Is season 2 going to come out on DVD sometime?

I watched Gunpla Builders: The Beginning and it was alright.  It's a short 40 mins kids thing but it has a bunch of decently animated footage of all kinds of gundams fighting each other.  Like Hi-Nu and Dendrodium and Astray vs. The O.   Kind of cool.  Better than the OO movie at least.

Plus the original Gundams for the show are pretty crazy.  Beginning 30 Gundam is nuts.  It's basically V Gundam x OO Quanta.  It has all these magic shields and wings and 3 beam saber claw and throwing beam knives and RAISER BEAM SWORD and all kinds of crap.  It's sort of awesome!  lolol.  I wouldn't mind them putting it in a GvG game or something.
