i can believe that but the reason i stopped bothering with gantz anymore is because i was sick of that kind of drama,so really coupled with the hidamari sketch-esque cast i just don't want to bite even if those visual do indeed look kickass :-\

Madoka's only 12 episodes, so you can get through it fairly quickly, and

Except it's not deus ex machina at all. Madoka had already been established as being the source of the most powerful witch in history [which also meant she would be the most powerful magical girl] thanks to Homura's repeated tampering with timelines for Madoka's sake. In the end, Homura finally realized that she would never be able to truly alter the timeline and protect Madoka from becoming a magical girl, which helps Madoka to realize that the only way to stop the destruction from happening was to become a magical girl and make her wish, but make the RIGHT wish. Essentially she had to make the ultimate selfless wish [none of the other wishes in the series ever were actually selfless, as Kyubey points out.

So, basically, either watch the show because you want to or don't watch it because you don't want to. Arguing with someone who watched the first episode, read a synopsis, and then wasn't impressed and/or interested is, ultimately, kinda pointless.

oh, well nice work there :)

Do you do any manga/anime tls?  It's always cool to meet other people who do tl.

Thanks.  :heart

I'm not really with any groups in particular... I sorta just freelance random things when I come across something that I like and want to share with others.

Denpa Onna Episode 3

I'm actually very glad that Erio's mom came out like that this episode. It answered a lot of unsettling questions I had for her, and now like you said, I can kinda get the framework of it all now. I'm definitely not convinced she's an alien, and that it's probably all some deep tragic thing, but I guess the main question is how is it all going to play out.

Definitely curious to see if this show is being taken well as Shaft's other works, because it's slowly starting to rise up there for me.

Quote
A-Channel Episode 4

I don't know why but I just love the pacing, random insert songs (hooray, I actually get to here this things used in the show! It makes the character CDs so much more compelling when they're released when you know what you're getting into) and the general humor of the show. It does nothing new, but it definitely does things right. Props to Studio Gokumi indeed, especially if they're former Gonzo employees as the rumors have been circulating.

Quote
Moshidora - Episode 4

Love the art... and that's about it. Everything else about the show is pretty... boring.

It was a lot of fun.  Very energetic, very funny, great animation/action.  Would recommend.

i would love to watch steins gate but i hate to watch running series, nothing worse than not being able to know "what happens next!"

besides it's not like i'm totaly drama averse if there is a good mystery behind the plot (which is why chaos head picked my curiosity) of course if it's going to be like umineko where they find the most inplausible excuse so that nothing ever happens that's another thing altogether...

talking about that, what the heck happened to umineko? is there ever going to be a season 2?

Chaos;Head the anime adaptation was horrible. It's not about being adverse to the type of drama/suspense it presents, it's just a horrible quality product, period. If the concept interests you enough, I would highly recommend just playing through the ADV then.

As for Umineko, the answer arcs haven't all been finished, as far as I know, so there really isn't any point in doing an anime on them yet, I think.

Plus the sales of Umineko BD/DVDs were so bad, it's probably hard for them to justify animating another season.

Is that real?!?

Yeah, it's real. The guy that directed Piranha 3D [and some other stuff] is doing it.

Of all the anime-to-movie conversions in the works, I'd say this has the best chances of turning out good. That's because of how westernized and relatively simplistic Cobra is. The series is a sort of Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon scifi adventure with a more adult twist about some wise cracking dude who hops from planet to planet getting into crazy situations and macking on hot chicks.

Yeah, the Key stuff seems good, but I'm not really interested in any of those so eh. I tried watching Higurashi a while ago, but I had to stop after a few episodes because I couldn't stand the art. Oh well. I hope Steins;Gate turns out well, but I don't watch anything while it's airing (with rare exceptions, like Kaiji S2). I prefer to just marathon shows.

and on a side note, I'm surprised Redline hasn't been released on DVD/BR yet, seeing as it's a movie from 2009. I thought I saw a torrent for it a while ago, but I must have imagined it. Weird. I guess I'll watch Mind Game instead.

Sket Dance Episode 2 and 3

First episode was okay, nothing really that great, but the second and third episode were much better. 2nd episode was a lot funnier and had better situations for the group to get in and the 3rd episode presented a nice bit of drama to give the characters a bit more...ahem...character. Nothing really mind-blowing, but both episodes were enough to elevate it a little bit in my mind. I was close to dropping it, but I'm willing to watch some more to see how things go.

Enma-kun Episode 2-4

One of the two demons-doing-funny-stuff shows this season. It's not as good as Azazel-san, but still has some pretty funny moments in it, and some decent action scenes. If you know anything about Go Nagai, you know pretty much what to expect content-wise. In that respect, Enma-kun certainly doesn't disappoint. There's plenty of disturbingly sexual scenes, scantily glad girls and women, and tons of sexual humor. Somehow, though, it manages to not quite cross the line from "funny sexual" to "creepy, off-putting sexual", but that line is incredibly narrow and Enma-kun often rides very, very close to the line.

kaiji season 1 ending is pretty surprising,it was ballsy for the author to do that...

so i've made some research and discovered that part 2 isn't how kaiji ends and that there is a part 3... is the season 2 of the anime just part 2?

I think I mentioned it once before, but Spring 2011 has been one of the absolute best seasons of anime in years. There's a huge amount of variety and lots of quality writing/directing that make this a great time to jump back into regular anime watching.

Here's my watching list/ranking:

1. Steins;Gate [technobabble-laden conspiracy theories, love it]
2. Tiger & Bunny [bromance action, can't go wrong with that]
3. C [noitaminA doesn't disappoint often and this looks to continue that trend]
4. Ano Hi Mita [see above]
5. Azazel-san [almost passed this one up, but the first 4 episodes were hysterical]
6. Deadman Wonderland [Fun, but kind of annoying at times, will see how it goes in next few episodes]
7. A-Channel [huge guilty pleasure, wouldn't really recommend it to others]
8. Denpa Onna [Shaft+Shinbo is always a good combination]
9. Hanasaku Iroha [kind of wavering on this one, it might drop depending on next few episodes]
10. Enma-kun [not as good as Azazel-san but still funny, also almost missed this one]
11. Moshidora [Kind of boring/generic, but I like seeing how Drucker's techniques are applied to baseball]
12. SKET Dance [almost dropped after 1st episode, but 2 and 3 brought me back]

That's a dozen shows that I am watching this season and even the show at the bottom of my list is still a pretty good watch. There have been some recent seasons where I've only watched 2-3 shows.

Totally agree, this is the most amount of shows I've followed since, I don't remember.  :-[

Hidan no Aria 04: The show like, suddenly, out of nowhere kicked it into high gear. And I love it.

Denpa Onna 04: Erio looks so much cuter outside of the futon than inside. And the aunt always makes me giggle with how silly she is.

Any of you dudes know when the latest Highschool of the Dead or Deadman Wonderland chapters will be out? I don't know where'd I'd find that info so I figured I'd ask here.

I think High School Of The Dead is on hiatus.  The author has released some other comics and may have lost interest or something.

I finished watching Higurashi no naku koro ni.  To my surprise it was really good!  I dunno why I skipped the second season back when it was airing and left the show unfinished.  The second season was waaaay better than the first season.  The thought of 10-13eps per arc made me think the season would feel slow, but it was actually the exact opposite.  You just blow through the eps and the pacing is pretty much perfect edge of your seat.  The arcs have much better pacing and build up than when they were crammed into 3-6eps in S1.

But most of all, I'm just kind of surprised that in the world of terrible Japanese storytelling where every mystery novel/game/anime ends up falling apart and being a letdown when explained (cough*cough*20th Century Boys*cough), Higurashi actually came together really well and for the most part it all made sense and didn't seem too far-fetched.  Going into it I wasn't sure if Ryuichi07 was actually a good writer, or if he was just popular for doing catchy stuff.  But yeah, this man is a talented, smart horror mystery writer whose going to have a promising writing career.  Now I'm really looking forward to reading through Umineko.

The end of the 2nd to last arc, minnagoroshi was friggen goooood and the final arc was SO SO GOOD until the very last ep or two where it kind of became a bit ridiculous with some weird tonal swings, but it still came together pretty well.

Would definitely recommend the series to anyone who hasn't watched it yet.  The mysteries are intriguing and the explanations are smart and good.  The final ending to the series in the last book/aka end of S2 is really satisfying.

Going to watch the OAVs next, but I dunno how much I'll enjoy them since what made the show good was unraveling the mystery piece by piece going forward.  Jumping back will be weird.  Although maybe there's no plot at all for them, the first OAV seems entirely fanservice.

Also, watching S2 with Yui Horii as Hanyuu it makes me a little sad that she's fallen off the seiyuu planet as the new kids took over and all the 95-05' seiyuu were pushed into minor roles or retirement.  I really like her acting.  Fruits Basket <3

Steins;Gate episode 5

Plot's coming into focus now and it is SO GOOD. Can't believe there's still 19 episodes left, because it already feels like the show's starting to ramp up for an arc finale. The only concern is that it burns itself out too quickly and looses focus during the middle stretch of episodes.

Enjoy cramming 24 episode into a couple days, while I sit back and take it all in over the course of a few months.  :tophat

I dunno, I think it really depends on the show.

For instance Higurashi is so much better watching all at once because it's a NEED NEXT EP NOWW marathon show.  Otoh, I think Star Driver works a lot better as a weekly show (as do 99% of monster-of-the-week shows) because back to back it feels repetitive, but throwing a week between each fight keeps it ok.

Anyhow in the Higurashi OAV1 Rena keeps calling Keiichi's penis the "furry seal".  I dunno why but I find that really funny.  Penis = seal was a new one to me.

Nurarihyon no Mago

You guys need to watch this promising shounen, it's basically Lelouch and his horde of Japanese demon spirits.

Or at least read it but then you won't get to hear dat sexy smug voice.

Yeah, the anime is adapted from the manga. I think season 2 picks up at volume 14, but I'm not completely sure. The anime makes Kaiji (and Akagi) infinitely more awesome, so I haven't read too far ahead.
