Yeah, Caliostro is pretty great. It's not my favorite [that would be Nausicaa, Porco Rosso, or Kiki's Delivery Service], but it's definitely not far behind.

Already looks like a bad mecha design, even from the shadow. Mustache Gundams make triumphant return?

Would be cool if it's October show, but I can't see Sunrise airing Sacred Seven and a new Gundam at the same time. Will probably be Sacred Seven -> New Gundam, so maybe Jan? Unless Sacred Seven is only 13eps.

Level 5 is collaborating with Sunrise in the development of this Gundam project. Hino, from Level 5, is going to write the story.

Those of you who have played a Level 5 game should know what to expect.

Suffice to say, my expectations and hopes are at an all time low.

See, I thought the only reason Hino got writing jobs was because he kept hiring himself to write his games. I don't know who in their right mind would actually hire him as a writer since he is incredibly terrible.

I think the only hope is that they just go balls-out, over-the-top ridiculous like G Gundam and have the little kids fighting horse gundams and mummies. But I know that's just a dream. :'(

I actually like the idea of following three different generations of pilots, but it's Level 5, so I'm guessing they're aiming for younger kids and material won't be all that interesting. Who knows.

The Gundam AGE press conference is going on right now in Japan, and it's even being live streamed, but it's blocked outside of Japan. The only things I've seen so far are that it's going to be on TBS/MBS and start airing in October.

gundamguy.blogspot.com has new images and gunpla info available, but nothing else yet.

The story takes place over a 100 years with 3 generations of a family and 3 main characters (all in their chibi eras). I'm not sure whose generation goes first so I'm guessing the kid is one of the later generations looking at a painting of the gundam his ancestors piloted.

If this show wasn't being written by Hino, I'd probably be ok with it. The visual style is kind of a Gaogaigar-ish throwback style and I'm ok with that. But Hino + kerokero guy = this is going to be really really dull.

The green-haired dude is the first pilot, and he's the one looking at the painting as a little kid (story starts with him at 7, becomes a pilot at 14). And, the painting looks more like the RX-78 (look at the red shield) than the new Gundam (blue shield).

The Saika arc in Durarara S2 was kind of ehh and I can see why people aren't that fond of the 2nd half. It's entertaining but the first half is like fun, smart, and upbeat; the 2nd half looks like it's going to become Gundam angsty and it's taking the supernatural stuff which was very slight in the first half into a kind of unbelievableness direction.

Still better than most shows since though.
