I've survived in arab hoods bro!

I ASSUME you may be alright then. The hood is a scary place man, I gotta stay strapped at all times. And by that I mean I carry a metal whistle in my right hand at all times. Never had to use it, but I did flash it a few times.

whats your whistle gonna do in a fight?

Alert the few elderly white people around that one of their own needs help. Also, the edge is pretty sharp so I suppose I could swing it around and get a few cuts in.
Not sure if serious, I have seen worse tactics to be honest and I had my own one too.
When I was 14 I used to take my boxing teeth protection with me in my pocket but i never used it, putting it on before a fight is just as ridiculous as taking your shirt off.

Yes the pebbles! I hate that. Why the fuck is every beach I been to outside of America always just pebbles and not sand? It was that way in Europe too.

Yeah, Michigan is pretty cool... if you like hellish, post-apocalyptic dystopian landscapes littered with thugs and dirty homeless drifters.
99% of Michigan is horrible despite what PD thinks. One of the worst states I've lived in. I would leave the state if I wasn't able to live in the libruuul artsy college town hippie-land of Ann Arbor.

Does Ann Arbor have their own Robocop? Then Detroit > Ann Arbor

Also in Detroit you can buy a house for a dollar. Or you can live in a empty, run-down supermarket for FREE. I'm taking the entire Shake Clan there once I scrap up enough pennies to cover utilities :bow

In Ann Arbor pot is basically decriminalized and on a given weekend you see people sitting around the park openly smoking it downtown. Willco's beloved Kevin Smith once described Ann Arbor as the sealed off utopia in the state that is surrounded by shit where everyone is high. Which isn't far off.

And yes Detroit is pretty much that. It is a empty hell-hole.

I remember PD claiming he hated Robocop as a kid because it gave Detroit a bad name or some such nonsense.

In 2010, I think watching Robocop is like looking back at Detroit with rose-colored glasses. The place is literally a giant wasteland in the middle of the country.

Robocop is to Detroit as Singin' in the Rain is to 1930's Hollywood.

Chicago is definitely where you want to be.

Rural urban street smarts, quiet peacful suburbia, lake shores, conglomerate buildings, the president of the united states... and BOYSTOWN

Yes, Chicago all the way, assuming you don't like having money in your wallet.  If you wait until July you only have to pay 9.75% sales tax (down from 10.25) but still the highest in the country.

I think what he wants is a place where people are energetic, sociable, living outdoors, sporty and have a 'joy of life' etc And proper beaches. So it seem like from people's experiences it would be:
Brazil
Spain
Sydney, Australia (though you need to live in the right area and be with the right social circle which I guess is true anywhere).

From what I understand, the immigration process here in Canada is much easier than it is in the States.

It's true!  Just make up some BS story about your life being in danger back home and claim refugee status!  Then con some Canadian chick to marry you for your citizenship, and you're golden!

I think I went to one once when I was like six years old. That's probably the last time one has existed in New York. I haven't been able to find any, and searching online has lead me nowhere. :-\

I am 22 years old Swedish citizen, I know that I can visit USA and stay there for 6 months or so without any problems but what are my chances of getting the green card through working or studying over there?

Low, very low. I entered on an H3 visa (interpraktik), and there was immense pressure from the government to stick to that. Any hint of attempting to change the visa status would have been grounds to bar me from entering the country. I got married which landed me a work permit, but the "green card," or permanent residency, was a different matter altogether.

There is the professional sponsorship method (H1B), but then the employer has to prove to the INS that you're uniquely qualified and will not simply fill a position that could be filled by a US resident. Understandably, that's not a realistic option for average dudes.

I'll be totally honest and admit and I have no clue why anybody would want to move to the US at this stage.

It's a cool place, people are friendly, there are no limits on what you can achieve and be allowed to feel good about, and you can buy pretty much anything. Also, freedom of speech and guns. I'll miss a lot of stuff.

Also, :bow Ann Arbor :bow2
