I'm no Demi or Sceneman, but I've actually really enjoyed the inclusion of achievements this generation.  I'm not talking about about playing game as a chore, but there's something slightly satisfying about getting a trophy message when playing FFXIII after defeating the final Mark Mission or maxing out a job for the first time.  I rarely 100 percent games, again I'm no Demi, but they've definitely become a nice tack on bullet point this generation.

They are a nice addition and I certainly missed them when I played on the Wii earlier in the gen.

I've never 1000'ed a game. Probably never will. And never go out of my way to get them but as a Pavlovian treat as I play through games, I dig them.

Im not a complete whore (never played a shit game purely for gamerscore) but I admit I have grinded away at games longer than I wanted to play them for, to max out the achievements. Recent culprits are Mass Effect 1 (I was pretty bored during my 4th playthrough!) and Skate 2. I have also boosted certain online achievements which is probably a worse act. Hey, it wasnt my fault no-one plays Doom on XBL anymore!  :P

I think they are a great inclusion for games, add lots of replay value, and I love the mad steez for nailing a tough achievement. I was always into collect-a-thon games like Banjo Kazooie etc. when I was younger, and achievements are like the ultimate collect-a-thon!

I like to complete games, but if the achievements are too much of a grind, or if a game just sucks so much that I can't play it anymore (like Oblivion), I won't bother. I actually used to play through a game normally without looking at the achievement list so I'd have an excuse to go back and replay it... Now I have a backlog I'll never get through. :-\

Only game I ever 1000d was Dynasty Warriors Gundam.  There's other games where I've come close, but once I've finished it and done all I want with it, I don't go back to do other stuff like find flags or whatever.

I'll often review a game's achievements before going in and take on any easy ones you can get in one playthrough.  For a few games, I'm willing to spend hours hunting all the achievements if they're fun enough.

My gamertag shows that I 1,000'd Avatar but I got my baby brother to do that in 5 minutes for fun.

I'm not a whore but I often enjoy them.  Wii games feel a bit lacking without them.

Achievements are out. Trophies are in.

the only game I went into thinking that I'd get 1000/1000 was Banjo Nuts and Bolts and it was hell because of the multiplayer achievements.  The only other two I have are Assassin's Creed 2 and Infamous (excluding XBLA games like Banjo and Kazooie).  For both those games, it was more that I naturally was gaining a lot of the achievements/trophies and decided to just go for it.

Right now when playing Just Cause 2 I'm going for some of them being they seem attainable but I have no intention of getting 100% on it.  I'm using it more for another goal to have while causing chaos.

I like them, but i'd try and get more if they gave you some kind of unlockable bonuses sometimes.  As they are i just never feel like working hard just to get a little icon and a couple points.

Okay well that's a lie.  I did get that stupid gnome chompski cheev in l4d2

I love them. When I beat a game, I always tell myself I'll go back and get any miss on a second playthrough, which rarely ever actually happens, so I'm no completionist.

I do have the mark of shame that is Avatar on my gamercard though, and I spent a bunch of free time one summer  trying to keep up with or surpass a co-worker of mine. I did a bunch of games offline so he couldn't see my progress, surpassed his score, then my memory unit got fried and I lost a shitload of points. :'(

My own fault, karma's a bitch. It was nice to actualy complete some games for a change, something I don't do often enough.

I hope Willco uses your story in a script.  The tragic story of a man who makes great achievements in life but through cruel fate nobody ever knows about his achievements.  So he spends the rest of his life trying to reassure himself that achievements can mean something even though nobody knows about them.

Of course, if nobody knows about achievements it's like they never happened, and he dies a hollow, yet sexually satisfied man.

Until recently no. Never cared much, at least I never cared about the aggregate score, I did like having real hard trophies in certain games. Now that I'm kinda keen to bring my aggregate score up I think I'm going to whore myself out for a bit. How low will I go  ???

Like muckhole I was the victim of a similar tragedy involving achievement loss (recovering my gtag at a friends house and not resyncing with my box for a while  :'( )
