« on: April 09, 2010, 08:05:53 PM »

Quote
Avatar meets Jurassic Park as the latest paleontological research meets Hollywood story telling. Discovery Channel teams with the top creative talent from Disney and Pixar to create an unparalleled television event. New creatures abound in a wondrous new world – giant dinos with Freddy Krueger style clawed hands, pygmy T-rex, frogs so big they can eat dinosaurs. Learn the latest in understanding of dinosaur behaviors with exotic mating dances, the inner workings of the T-rex’s nuclear family, dinosaurs drunk on fermenting fruit, dinosaurs in apocalyptic events, the underwater birthing of mosasaurs, and prehistory’s angriest mammals. A daring and provocative new chapter in television, REIGN OF THE DINOSAURS is bound to be the benchmark for all future dinosaur natural history programming.

I'd prefer a proper Land before Time sequel.

Drunk t-rexes? What kind of family entertainment encourages drunken binges where you eat others of your kind?

Maybe it's an object lesson?

Will we ever see dinosuars with feathers in our entertainment? Or have scientists given up on that theory?

I only ask because my juvenile side would love to see a colorful chicken-looking T-Rex chasing down a jeep full of scientists.

I saw a discovery special where trexes and saurapods had excessive plumage.  Its very widely accepted that dinosaurs had 'feathers' so to say.  Although I take it as a bastardisation of my childhood obsession. They just look fruity now mang  :'(

Considering that dinosaurs with feathers have been straight-up found, no.

Are feathers a species-wide trait, or did they just appear on certain genus' (geni?)

Uh, what?  Don't you mean that the other way around?

I think it was a case by case basis, although certain genus had uniform features.  The best example being the stegosaurus, which plates are modified scales in the same way that feathers are modified scales.

I don't know men that sounds pretty gay, Jurassic Park wouldn't have been as awesome or successful with Chicken dinosaurs. FACT.

Please. It would have been double-awesome if the T-Rex flapped their little arms as they ran.

Actually, I liked it. I was surprised, and thought it was better than The Lost World.
