Quote
Canadian developer Silicon Knights is to receive almost $4 million in federal money to help develop a new multiplatform title.

The Too Human studio will use the government grant to create 65 jobs, according to The Tribune.

"This is going to benefit Silicon Knights in ways that are profound and long-lasting," said president Denis Dyack.

"In our industry, you have to be very careful never to announce anything until the right time. We can only say it's a next generation title and a high production value game,” he added.

Silicon Knights currently employs over 100 staff, and local MP Rick Dykstra said the grant would be good for industry growth and the community.

"Their growth and their success is very important to our community. Not only in terms of job creation but also in terms of attracting and retaining the types of highly skilled workers Niagara needs to prosper."

I want my tax money back.

Has there ever been a development studio that has become more of a laughing stock than Silicon Knights? I know 3D Realms was a joke because of the endless Duke Nukem Forever delays, but it was mostly because people wanted to play their games.

I only hope that this time it controls better than a ps1 game but that's never going to happen.

So weird how SK doesn't just close doors.

SK was a bomb of epic proportions, the "trilogy" is all but dead. The sega game has been in development for years now, and we still haven't seen shit.

I'm starting to begin they are just a front.

True dat.

Seriously, only by Gaftard standards could Dyack be considered a loser.  Dude just got $4 million to make his shitty games.  I'd take that any day over the smug satisfaction of having pwned* him on an internet forum.

*debatable since Dyack never got to respond

I also want DQX on HD consoles. I don't think I'm even going to play DQIX because it's a DS game. I'm sure the experience can only go downhill after the awesome DQVIII.

DQVIII :rock

Awesome music, graphics and overworld. A much better game than Splinter Cell. Hell, it's even better than the whole Halo franchise and the Gears games.  8)

Agree on all that, for the time at least but the gameplay is akin to watching paint dry.

It's very archaic, yeah. But I loved it. It was my first DQ game. Battle system was simple and yet pretty deep at times.
Never played the older DQ games because they looked pretty boring and ugly in comparison. DQ still has the best overworld in any jrpg imo.

While on gaf...

Quote from: Me on gaf
DQVIII is one of my favorite PS2 rpg's. Loved everything about the game.

How does DQIX compare actually? Does it have the same type of overworld?

Quote from: some gaffer
Not at all. It's large in terms of real estate, but the sense of scale is more like the old games.

That confirms it. DQIX is a skip.
