It's kinda crazy how those rerurns crush original programming. I have a feeling we'll still be seeing Seinfeld in syndication in 30 years.  :lol

I do admit to sometimes watching Seinfeld reruns on TBS despite owning them on DVD. Mostly because a few years ago every episode of Seinfeld was remastered and only TBS airs these new masters and they look amazing in HD.

Definitely. Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld couldn't be poor even if they wanted to be.

It's a major downgrade from NBC and Fox. I will never argue with you there.  But it is a far better position than being on adult swim or comedy central or something which a lot of people were hoping for.

This position would be shit for basically anyone else. I can see why someone with a career they were trying to advance would be angry, but Conan doesn't have to strive for shit. He gets a desk, an audience, and a show that will be INCREDIBLY difficult for him to lose.

If he holds his niche audience TBS will be more than happy. The President of Turner says they expect this show to be on for at least 10 years. Conan will be fine.

Hopefully a big step up.  More skits, less shitty celebrities and uncomfortable monologues will make this a winner.  Will definitely be watching youtube  clips.

Stern gets it :bow

Conan should have stayed at NBC. I mean it's good that he had the balls to tell NBC to go fuck themselves, but it only ended up working poorly for him. :-\

He's wrong about all of Letterman's Conan-era gains being gone though. Letterman and Leno are closer than they've been in years.

What's the best place to go for Howard downloads now? They seem to have evaporated

yeah, Howard Stern totally nailed it.

I mean, who in their right mind would abandon a traditional network system for a much narrower audience of people who buy a premium service, whereby you get more creative freedom and big fat payday.

I mean, WHO would do that.

Two things on that. Stern and Conan have completely different audiences, and very different situations, so they're not even comparable. And while the move away from terrestrial radio might have benefited his fans, can anyone argue that Stern's exposure hasn't taken a dramatic hit?

I mean, when I was a kid, he was The King of All Media. There was Howard Stern and then there was everyone else. Now he's just some old guy on that satellite radio service your parents' pay for (probably in their Prius or other overpiced vehicle).

stern flip-flops all the time depending on what gets him the most quoted airplay

before he went full-on assault on leno he was saying conan should have just taken the 12 am slot

i like stern, but he said himself years ago that the only side he's ever on is his own

Stern arguably fell off hardest of all. He got a big payday out of it, but moving from normal radio to subscription based satellite killed a large portion of his fanbase, and his relevance.

It may be her own channel but I suspect Oprah will lose a lot of her sway and relevance from going to cable as well much like Stern (and I guess Conan but was he really wasn't that relevant before the huge dust up with NBC).
